Dell Mistakenly Sells Monitors For $15 Each D'oh. An online pricing goof at night on June 25 has cost Dell a lot of money. On its site for Taiwan, the company mistakenly put the price of a 19" LCD monitor as NT$500 ($15 US). Not surprisingly, word spread like wildfire, and in the eight hours before a correction was made, some 26,000 customers purchased 140,000 of the monitors. The correct price was NT$4,800 ($148), and Taiwan's Consumer Protection Commission received almost 500 complaints when Dell rectified its error. The agency had told Dell it must honor the mistaken pricing for customers who ordered one monitor and offer discounts where they've ordered extra monitors, according to The Register. If the company doesn't comply it will be considered in violation of Taiwan's free trade laws. http://ca.tech.yahoo.com/computers/d...s/article/3697 |
I wish I lived in Taiwan right now. |
civil law FTW... in NA, you can never get such a deal |
^ actually in quebec they have laws that side with the consumer when there's a price error. this news happened 2 weeks ago heard one guy ordered like 200 HAHA he couldve started his own chain of internet cafe |
the silver lining is at least it was only their 19" model and not the 30" model lol... still someone probably just got their ass fired and won't find another IT job for a long time |
its a shame its not like that here..... remember those free TB+ hard drives on those vostros awhile ago |
I wish they'd do that here, I tried ordering the "free" BT headset a while ago and they sent emails to everybody, other than in Quebec, an order cancellation letter. |

$148 x 140,000 = 20mil people at that agency probably ordered 1/2 of those monitors...lol I think it's easier for Dell to hire a good lawyer instead |
