anybody have dealings with tyeeimports? www.tyeeimports.com Searched through some old threads and they seem legit. Anybody here dealt with them before? Pros cons? How much haggle room is there from the list price? |
I've met the owner a few times and he's a nice guy, but I've heard a lot of the cars are pretty ragged and/or beat on. I'd go in person and look over anything carefully that you were considering. |
They're all garbage. He buys grade 2 or 3 cars from Japan and gets his mechanics to fix them up a bit. My friend bought a 90 MR2 from them about 3 years ago. We had good interaction; it wasn't the best condition but the price was right. My other friend went to look at a 91 Skyline last summer and it was complete garbage. He won't show you the auction sheets because every car he purchases have mass amounts of body damage. Do not buy a car from there. They are complete garbage. |
I've heard that the cars they have are hit or miss. It's either it's a steal of a deal for the condition, or its some raggedy beaten POS or a Grade R,A or RA car. |

I made a offer, going to see if he bites. Is a car with a RA grade even worth looking at? Its a pretty long drive to look at it in person. |
they have my Future RX7 ! http://www.tyeeimports.com/Details.asp?ProductID=503 nom nom nom nom nom! Well maybe this one the spoiler on the white one is too big http://www.tyeeimports.com/Details.asp?ProductID=502 they have one with 400+ hp lol does someone have the criteria for these grades? ie. B grade "interion" or 3.5 grade? |

And about those auction grades: Cars are rated from 5-1 going down in .5 increments, with 5 being showroom condition and 1 being a piece of junk or heavily modified. Then you stream into the R and RA accident repair grades. Interiors are rated from A to C based on condition like cigarette burns and stains. |

i wouldn't bother with a C grade. again, i looked at a car that had this rating and it was because the dash was gutted of all of the aftermarket gauges and stereo, and there was holes in the floor from a rollcage that was no longer there  |

here is the auction sheet http://tyeeimports.com/images/s201014388.jpg |
i can't read japanese, but is there a note that there is damage to the windshield? if so, i'm not sure u want to deal with that if it's something that needs replacing (might fail inspection) :o |
Reading that auction sheet, the car has an assload of scratches everywhere, and its a Grade C interior, so it can be cleaned up. I can't read Japanese but from a rough translation sheet of each info box, the area with the lines is for any problems the car has. Oh and to answer the OP's question, a car can't have an accident history or it won't get the numbered grades. |
could always get the car inspected by a third party like BCAA |
