integra wheels?
 

hi everyone,

about to buy a 98 integra rs. The car is lowered on springs by the previous owner (less than 2" but dunno how much exactly) so I'm planning on getting some bigger rims for it, to make it looks a bit nicer.

after doing a bit of reading though, i'm still left extremely confused about sizing etc. Can anyone here with integra experience tell me what type of wheel/tire/rim specs i need to be looking at when buying new ones? I'm thinking 16 or 17 and will prolly buy them used. My main concern is rubbing! How do i know it won't rub?

oh and the offset thing confuses me EVEN MORE!

For the most +3 is the most people ever go on thier cars. Meaning +3" in size from the stock size.

In your case the biggest I'd try without any worry would be 18". At 17" less than 2" drop would be fine.

As for rubbing you can only find out from other peoples experiences with tire size, and camber setup. There are ways around that which would be offset, camber adjustments and fender rolling.

Don't worry too much about offset, if you're scared of rubbing stick with Honda offsets which is around +40. Anything lower, for the most part will push the wheel out further increasing the chances of rubbing.

i had a 96 integra with 205/40/17.
the rims looked too big on the car and 40 profile wasn't very comfortable, i'd suggest going with 16" rims

anyone have pics of their integra on 16's vs. 17's, with specs of waht tires, offsets etc.?

and ur saying +40 and up is a safe offset??

205 45 16 would be ideal
205 40 17 it will be ok, but kinda too big for the car

^ +1, 16's would be look best, 17's are too big (TWSS).

Too much +offset would cause the inside of the tire wheel to rub on the suspension depending on how wide the rim is (though it's rare to see rims with more than +40 offset I find). With with less offset it may rub the fender, but that can be remedied with fender rolling.

I think anywhere between +35 to +40 offset would be a safe bet.

If i get 205 45 16 with +40ish offset, do you guys think there'd be a need still for camber kits??

205 45 16 +40 offset is fine without a camber kit. It depends on how low the car is too. I suggest after getting the new rims and tires on the car to go get an alignment done. This will help tell you if you need a camber kit or not.

The alignment specialist will tell you. They should also print out a sheet for you after it's complete to let you know the angle of camber you have and toe in/out.

Asking cause I saw some rims i may want with a +42 offset!

You're fine with 42. There is a thread on offset on honda-tech somewhere that is a good read.

What wheels are you getting. Didn't read past posts, but keep in mind, that if you do get 17" wheels (IMO they look like ass), tires are more $$. 15"s are cheapest of course and easiest to find. I prefer 16" 205/45/16

yeah i want 205/45/16...

but it seems so hard to find used (those particular dimensions), as opposed to 17...any suggestions (other than cl auto parts section and here) for where i can find 205/45/16 used? or if not, what's a cheap-ish way to buy new wheels??

What is your budget. All season or Summer etc... (Recommend set of summer, and set of winter as opposed to crappy tires all year long.)

im thinking less than 1k for both rims and tires...i'd like wheels i can use all year around except maybe HARSH HARSH winter conditions, during which time i can use my stocks and fuck them up.

So i'm not sure i want a summer tire, based on that...maybe down the line...

i'm sorta considering just buying tires locally and getting rims off ebay. Seems like i can get 16" rotas for 500-600!

Well, I am not going to convince you any more to buy summer tires over all season because it is your wallet end of the day, but in the long run, you are not spending that much more money. And safer, better performance, etc..

Like I've already stated in the other thread, summer tires, light wheels, ITR rear swaybar and you will have fun at the auto x events.

I can vouch for these guys and even with duties/taxes cheaper than buying them here.

If you're buying rims off ebay, mght as well buy the tires online as well, have both shipped to Point Roberts, and pick them up from there. Tires are way cheap online vs. local as well.

Even off ebay, shipping to Canada is probably insane vs. having them shipped to the US address.

i actually might find a place in bellingham or somewhere that sells rims/tires and contact them with an order or asking to hold something for me in stock. Then I can go there, have them put it on my car, allign my wheels and drive back home with the wheels already on, not having to declare customs or pay any shipping. Might be the cheapest way AND i get an allignment done right away?

Anyone know of any wheel places that can do this in bellingham area? lol time to start another thread.....
