porsche+subaru=porubi? http://porubi.com/ i'm trying to imagine what an sti engine and a decent whale tail would be like in this? |
oh wow. local guy too? |
haha i just read that in today's newspaper - it was in the vancouver sun. it's pretty cool though, how the man fitted the impreza engine into the 911 turbo. |
sweet! top mount intercooler ftw? funny how they mounted the rad though.. |
oh sweet itbs for the EJ no boost tho damn |
so....if it's installed the factory way the radiator is supposed to be in the front air dam? |
There's going to be some serious overheating issues. I don't see space for a rad fan |
like gnat said, there was an article on this in today's vancouver sun. remember back then porsches were originally air cooled, so no provision for a radiator. the subaru engine is water cooled. since this engine was not turbocharged (ie. no intercooler in the whale tail, and he had to put the radiator somewhere... this was all he could come up with? |
i'm not very good at this sort of thing... but how does this ITB setup work, being originally EFI? maybe there is a slimline electric fan that we can't see in the pics sitting on the radiator? |
nm thought u mean forced induction |
ITB is fine for EFI.... much like this: http://www.twminduction.com/Throttle.../s2000_pic.jpg As long as the measurement is via MAP... EDIT: he has converted the engine to carburetor so ignore what's posted above. |
I did some autox and track days with him back in '03/4/5 and yes it did have some overheating issues. I think he got it fixed but I haven't seen Wayne in a while. |
his website is very out of date too :( |
Speak of the devil! I actually just hosted the BBC toady and Wayne was there with his Porubi. |
wow subie engine is so tiny |
those are carbs, not itbs |
hey! i sold wayne my old 2.5 engine. it was a DOHC motor tho. looks like single cam worked better haha |
