porsche+subaru=porubi?

http://porubi.com/

i'm trying to imagine what an sti engine and a decent whale tail would be like in this?

RCubed 07-10-2009 05:11 PM

oh wow.
local guy too?

gnat. 07-10-2009 05:14 PM

haha i just read that in today's newspaper - it was in the vancouver sun. it's pretty cool though, how the man fitted the impreza engine into the 911 turbo.

tofu1413 07-10-2009 05:36 PM

sweet!

top mount intercooler ftw?

funny how they mounted the rad though..

TOPEC 07-10-2009 05:42 PM

oh sweet itbs for the EJ
no boost tho damn

hk20000 07-10-2009 05:46 PM

so....if it's installed the factory way the radiator is supposed to be in the front air dam?

Marco911 07-10-2009 06:52 PM

There's going to be some serious overheating issues. I don't see space for a rad fan

thumper 07-10-2009 06:55 PM

like gnat said, there was an article on this in today's vancouver sun.

remember back then porsches were originally air cooled, so no provision for a radiator. the subaru engine is water cooled. since this engine was not turbocharged (ie. no intercooler in the whale tail, and he had to put the radiator somewhere... this was all he could come up with?

thumper 07-10-2009 06:58 PM

i'm not very good at this sort of thing... but how does this ITB setup work, being originally EFI?

maybe there is a slimline electric fan that we can't see in the pics sitting on the radiator?

TOPEC 07-10-2009 07:06 PM

nm thought u mean forced induction

hk20000 07-10-2009 07:09 PM

ITB is fine for EFI.... much like this:

As long as the measurement is via MAP...

EDIT: he has converted the engine to carburetor so ignore what's posted above.

Rich Sandor 07-10-2009 11:17 PM

I did some autox and track days with him back in '03/4/5 and yes it did have some overheating issues. I think he got it fixed but I haven't seen Wayne in a while.

thumper 07-11-2009 04:11 PM

his website is very out of date too :(

Rich Sandor 07-11-2009 05:00 PM

Speak of the devil! I actually just hosted the BBC toady and Wayne was there with his Porubi.

Boostaholic 07-12-2009 12:56 AM

EuroTRASH 07-12-2009 09:12 AM
