What do you guys think about this PC? http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pro...5000FS10124869 It is on sale (50 dollars off) and the specs are pretty killer, so I am just wondering what you guys think about this PC. Thanks for any inputs. |
nothing special about the price in terms of system...do you know what motherboard, ram, power supply, you are getting in the box? you can setup same spec for same price from ncix etc... with that, you know what you are getting |
If I'm spending $1600 on a computer, there's no way in hell I'd buy one off the shelf, even if you don't get "as good of specs." Drop that down to 6 GB of RAM and you get yourself the same specs everywhere else on that build, plus you get a GOOD case with GOOD airflow, a GOOD heatsink, a GOOD power supply, a GOOD motherboard, and no crapware (things that aren't advertised in the specs). Plus every part will carry at least a 3-year warranty, which you'd have to spend a small fortune on to get at Futureshop, nullifying any cost savings. |
There are just so many things wrong with that system I don't have the time to go into. Like the two above me already said, if you can please DIY. Not only would you get better value from assembling a PC yourself but you will know exactly the component you are getting. |
I find these website makes it easy to choose a desktop because they have it pre configured and price is very inviting http://www.a-power.com/home-460 http://www.genericcomputer.com/c-54-System_Package.html |
I agree with the people who posted above. The first thing that popped out to me was the 12gb ram. You don't need 12gb ram. For half the cost of the 12gb of ram, you could have bought 4gb of high quality ram. Buying a pre-build computer means you don't have control of what components they put in. Most of the time, the power supply is crap. Also, even though the ram is ddr3, it still might have a low mhz. |
