Does anyone know how much maintenance/work these require? I wouldnt plan on modding it alot or driving it hard... yet. Its a second car, so its ok if it's sitting for a while not running.... |
lol 2jz S2000! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DV08SE-zV7A |
i was just taking a peek at US prices for the MKIV... http://www.vipimports.com/94Alpine/94Alpine.htm if i only won the lottery.... sigh. |
where all all those s2k and supra owners in this forum?? jason2000? troung??? etc. |
Are you looking for a S2000 for $10,000 or something? There are a gazillion good S2000s for sale in BC. I don't know where you're looking but S2000 rebuilts? LOL Get the S2K man, just pay a bit more and get a good one. |
Get a Supra you wont look back....timeless look, power and reliability! So many fellow Supra owners that have sold their car would regret it and buy another Supra again. That just tells you how good a car it is. Ask yourself how many honda owners say that. Think about it =) |

Its gonna be easier to find a good s2k for that price. http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/ctd/1272179081.html http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/ctd/1271959806.html http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/cto/1268970900.html http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/cto/1264913771.html There is 4 s2000's in your price range with no apparent problems, and remember if it needs a new top that means u can bargain the price down then use that money u didn't spend on a hardtop. There was a few supras but this was the nicest one with twin turbos and 6 speed and is coming just below ur budget at 14,500. Personally ide be all over that supra if i had the money http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/cto/1270687548.html |

3rd one is a rebuild 4th one is nice, was actually thinking about that one... but i'm not a fan of the black S2K, most of them really show their wear... |

ok... anyways, you might be able to negotiate better on the 4th one and tell the seller that he is wrong. 2003 also has 9k revline and glass window. and if you pick that up, then pay the $$$ to get it professionally detailed and the car should look good as new something like this: http://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php...#entry15751075 |

Didn't you say ur budget wat 15-20g's? the ones i posted r JUST over 20 and your could try and bargain them down to like 17-19. Also y not a 350z? ide pick one over a s2k neday. |
used Zs in that price range always look really beat on to me personally |

Something all these dick swinging supra fanboys forget is. How often are you going to be moving fast enough to enjoy the straightline power of a modded supra? Specially with all the construction in vancouver. Dealerships barely know anything about a lhd mkiv much less a rhd one. Dealers typically are trained to work with cars less than 10 years old. How often do you see people bringing 10+ year old cars to the dealer? What lot boy wouldn't love to beat the snot out of your car for leaving it at the dealer? Specially with the appeal these cars have to the teenage crowd. Where as with the sharp handling of an s2k you can appreciate it just about everytime you jump into it. |
Supra... do it... do it.. |

LOL, Anyone who doesnt appreciate a Supra everytime they jump into it has issues. Who cares if someone cant use all the power on the street, you wont be able to in an S2K either. Own/drive both for a long period of time and you will know which car is better. Theres nothing to even think about when debating between these two cars. Quote:

I'm surprised no one mentioned this! Or get a poor man Supra like me. Aristo ! ;) |

I need you to convince me in person |
If you think about it, is the OP going to dump all that money to make like 600rwhp - 1000rwhp? If not, what's the point in posting all these supra videos? If it does convince him, he'll just get the supra and realize he'll need to dump xxxxxx.xx amount into it. S2000 since I'm a honda guy, and you can pick up chicks with it. haha |
nvmind it was up there :P |

As a supra owner they are amazing cars but like anything there are drawbacks piss poor fuel economy about 16-19MPG taking it easy which drops to about 12ish at WOT take my word for it as fun as it is if its your daily driver you will soon know your local gas station attendants by first name As parts go they arent cheap, most stock parts are overpriced, and unless its something common will take few days to arrive (5-7 days from most toyota dealerships) The good well alot of power and very easy to increase it, its a rocket and does handle well (avoid snow unless you like a sled), very comfortable ride, has a back seat can seat 2 small girls or one person sitting across the seats (trunk is not the that big and if you store the targa its useless) with the targa off in the sun the car is great it does become a little fishy as the rear likes to kick out. From a mechanical point of view Engines are very reliable can handle huge amount of power if done right, but its very easy to add a boost controller abuse the car and sell it(most cars get sold for a reason try to find it) Things to check would be dead turbos, even on a mint car if they have been abused by overboosting you will see smoke out of the exaust, and in the intake piping alot of oil Trany noise when idle most of them sound like a small ball is inside bouncing, syncros mostly first and second from wear and tear Check that the odometer works its very easy to turn them off, if its targa check for leaks a major pain in the ass to fix My experience with toyota its been great so far took the car twice and i recieved amazing service thats not to say dont be cautious with who you give the keys to. As for the attention the car will you defiantly get you that but not from the girls, the car is a cok magnet and a big one too. I drive mine as a daily driver for about a year and a half no mechanical issues, just a clutch replacement (stock will run you about 550$ in parts if you can do it your self, toyota will do it for about 1000$) , tires if stock are not too bad but if they are wide well not cheap if you stick to the maintenance schedule the car will be fine but like any other car it all depends how you take care of it Try www.supraforums.com there are many helpful people there that can help you with your questions if your serious. |
Tgo... what year is yours, and what kind of mileage do you have? several years back i tried looking for one but bceause of my limited budget, i was always stuck looking at riced out junk, rebuilds, or hi-mileage tired beaters that i couldn't afford to fix/restore :( |
