matte black lip?

can anyone find pictures of a matte black painted front lip on a white car? i'm thinking about doing this because my carbon fiber lip has a small crack and carbon fiber is so hard/expensive to fix? what do you guys think, good idea or no?

No good it'll look cheap, matte black will look plasticy as a front lip

Do a fade and make something creative..

Cheap, id stick with a cracked cf one over a new unpainted lip.

FatalCloud 07-13-2009 03:32 PM

for sure cf is better but i thought if i left the crack untreated, it'll start to crack more and more.

Fake CF tape?

FatalCloud 07-13-2009 04:43 PM

where can i buy fake cf tape if it comes to that.

also i thought matte black was ok because cars get painted matte black or their wheels.

Canadian tire for cheap shit

trollguy 07-13-2009 09:42 PM

are you guys kidding me?

paint it matte black.

hk20000 07-14-2009 08:09 AM

why no one ever suggest this: paint it body color.

^ I had a black lip on a Red car and it looked really cheap.

then i saw a very nice red EG with a black lip and it looked REALLY good.

i guess it really depends.

i painted my lip to make the front end look fuller. i think i prefered. that

Mugen EvOlutioN 07-14-2009 09:13 AM

spend the money and paint it body color dude, to actually match it, not make it look tacky

FatalCloud 07-14-2009 10:00 AM

oops maybe i should mention that it's not really a 'lip', it's more like carbon fiber splitter covers, attached to each side of the bumper. so...if i paint it body colour, it'll look tacky.

Like Bumper canards?

illicitstylz 07-14-2009 11:27 AM

you can get fake cf tape from ebay as well. don't know how well it'd look though.

i'm in the same boat as the OP, fortunately my car's black, so the polyurethane lip doesn't look that bad unpainted but i'm looking for a better solution, may try the carbon fibre tape.

anyone with experiences>?

edit: CT carbon fibre -- http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/brows...ive%2BFilm.jsp

ebay carbon fibre --http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1-3D-Carbon-fiber-pin-stripe-tape-striping-Roll-vinyl_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ65Q3a12Q7c66Q3a2 Q7c39Q3a1Q7c72Q3a1205Q7c293Q3a1Q7c294Q3a50QQ_trksi dZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem4a990dcb4cQQitemZ3203 95397964QQptZBoatQ5fPartsQ5fAccessoriesQ5fGear

too bad the ebay ones don't come in wider dimensions, guess i'll have to try the CT ones since 5-7/8" x 6'

hk20000 07-14-2009 12:46 PM

take them off. Any bumper canards look tacky on any street used car, no exceptions.
