Blackberry Tour

Anyone pick up the Tour yet? I got mine yesterday morning, so far its pretty good, speeds are good and no lag like the Storm. Battery life seems good so far, been using it constantly since 5am today and only down 1 bar. Only complaint I have is the placement of the USB charging port, makes it hard to type or talk when its plugged in.

I got it at the Bell Store on Georgia/Burrard for $399 using my hardware credits, they threw in free accessories too.

I'm on Bell so its 3G and I wasn't concerned about wifi on a cell as I don't stream videos much on my phone and my data plan more than covers enough for me. lol I was just happy to not have to get the Storm.

The Bold and the Tour are very similar phones. The Tour has the newer software and better camera. Size wise the Tour is slightly smaller than the Bold. The Bold has wifi, Tour doesn't. The back of the Bold is a leather design, the back of the Tour is carbon fibre design. Bold is a GSM phone (Rogers), Tour is a CDMA phone (Bell, Telus), tho the Tour is a world phone, it has a SIM card slot and mine came with a Bell SIM card.

Any idea when or if a Tour is gonna come out for 3G/GSM? I like the form factor of the Tour more than the bold.

Or am I gonna have to wait for another round of new releases?

Our company is having issues with Bell's Tour...
Bell sent some units for "testing" with a small number of users, and we have now decided to wait until the device "matures" before implementing company wide.

We sent a lot back with common issues:
- phone freezing
- OS performance issues (i..e memory leaks)
- Flaky trackball (supposedly fixed now?)
- poor speaker phone sound quality.

Simplex123 09-22-2009 03:37 PM

there's also a 3g curve coming out right? so that'll be gooooood

ienhz 09-22-2009 03:38 PM

can't wait for 9700. i hate trackballs now.

Sounds like the new Bell SIM cards are starting to roll out. Time to upgrade from my HTC Diamond!

it says AT&T/T-mobile are getting the bb 9700 in late oct/november
so do you guys think rogers will be getting it even before that?

Most likely not, but you'll be able to buy it from someone in the states who's reselling or unbranded via ebay.

Simplex123 09-23-2009 06:52 PM

^ well apparently the bold 9700 and the curve 8520 are already in Rogers' computer system.. and the last two BB's were released in Canada prior to the states I believe. I hope they continue to do this :D

Nikeaddict21 09-28-2009 12:15 AM

They were, until Rogers decided to promote the iPhone as its premiere smartphone when it first released. RIM is still kind of bitter about that.

westcoastgsr 10-07-2009 10:37 PM

I love my Tour, it just the right size and has been really stable. I only wish it had WiFi..but then again if I was going to go on the internet for a long time I would just use a computer.
