How to change this lightbulb?

This probably isn't the proper forum for this, but I need all the traffic I can get! Take a look at the following light:

http://www.majhost.com/gallery/Bryan/revscene/light.jpg

Attached at the 9 and 3 o'clock positions, the inner white ring pivots with the light. I can't unscrew it like a regular lightbulb. How do I change this thing without ripping apart my ceiling and/or electrocuting myself?

Thanks in advance!

umm....yes

Culture_Vulture 07-15-2009 10:05 PM

have you tried taking it out? lol

!Aznboi128 07-15-2009 10:18 PM

pull from the outsides its hold on by expanding clips once its out the bulb is held with bulb holder to that bezel

looks like a Par 20

monkeywrench 07-15-2009 10:20 PM

Does it only pivot forwards and back only?

I was watching my friend remove a bulb like that last week, it was a pain in the ass for him but he eventually removed it, I could ask for instructions, but I'm not sure if its the same one

Outside ring, reef on the motherfucker. I have the same lights, different color in my media room.

Don't actually reef it you'll split the tile slowly wiggle it loose.

anti_rice 07-15-2009 11:06 PM

the whole thing comes off if you gently pull on it.. it's held on by 2 spring clips. just put your finger nails along the outter edge and pull one side at a time.

As quasi said.....

And since it's a drop ceiling, just pop the tile next to it and watch what you're doing from the top.

Ask a brown guy......jk jk

As everyone has said, just try to pull it from the outer edge of the other casing.

if ur still stuck...maybe try going to a hardware store and play with the display ones? or just ask the ppl there

Ulic Qel-Droma 07-16-2009 03:28 PM

you're asking the wrong group, you see, us asians would know how to cut corners and produce it for cheap, but only a white man would know how to install it and utilize the tool properly. haha

Thanks for the help guys! I pulled the whole thing out, then unscrewed the bulb from the socket. Here's what it looks like:

http://www.majhost.com/gallery/Bryan...ene/light2.jpg

To get the bulb out of the housing, I had to pull on the black metal tabs on either side. It was wedged in there pretty tight!

Yah it's a par 20!

InvisibleSoul 07-16-2009 10:24 PM

FYI, Canadian Tire has PAR 20 lightbulbs for 40% off starting tomorrow (Friday).

Hahaha nice, thanks for the heads up!

I try to buy stuff only when it's on sale, like you I bet! :D

No, I try to buy it when it's free. :p

But if I really need something, then I'll get it when it's on sale. :D

Those PAR20 light bulbs are freakin' expensive... $9.99 for a 3-pack regularly, or $21.99 for the 6-pack.

I got a 6-pack for free using those Canadian Tire scratch and save coupons a few months back. ;)
