if its a plastic clear ruler ... then can't write on it ...
if its those school yellow ruler .. its too big to fit inside the pencil case..
if its a wood ruler .. u can't easily rub it off without grabbing a eraser and go to town on it.. that would let the teacher know u wrote something on it.. plus it'll be too big

the backside of certain metal rulers can be written on and hence are perfect for exam notes :thumbsup:
