Anyone here run a Pho restaurant or have a friend running a Pho place?
 

A friend and I have been discussing opening our own Pho restaurant in the future (several years from now). We were hoping to work in a Pho restaurant this summer for a short time to see how it works.

usually good if you have your family recipes as well as family helping out. i myself with a buddy plan on opening one in 4-5 years and i told myself it would be called PHO 20 or pho phuc lai :)

i have alot of friends and family that own or operate a pho joint but i wouldent know where to start in asking them what its like

I'm sure it couldn't be much different from operating any other restaurant.
The restaurant I work at in UBC has solidified our name very well in the neighbourhood, and in the fall and winter lineups are through the front door, but now during the summer, we need about half the staff if not last to run the place. And even then, sudden rushes eventually come.
Be prepared for high stress if you're going to run a restaurant, maybe watch the movie Waiting :haha:
If you can establish yourself as a year round sorta place, like some popular pho places in town obviously would be very easy, but competition is all over the place.
