Throwing out printers and monitor

this might be in the wrong forum but

Here's the link to all the Recycling facilities in Vancouver. It's free of charge.

http://www.encorp.ca/cfm/index.cfm?It=939&Id=4&Se=40 Link of what is accepted and Not accept. (The stuff you want to throw out are all accepted)

Here's a list of some companies that take them also.

I'll have to look for the link for a company I dealt with before that's in Vancouver that we had pick up a bunch of stuff from a company I used to work for. If they're still working you can probably donate it somewhere.

twitchyzero 07-17-2009 05:31 PM

just call salvation army or the canadian diabetes assoc
ask them to come pick it up.

What do you guys do w/ other electronics that are not accepted? I have a old mini-stereo system that I'd like to recycle/throw out (recycle preferably). Or even donate? Since it's in perfect working order.

^ if they don't accept it but it works... craigslist? or put some flyers up at the nearest uni/college

danned 08-12-2009 10:05 PM

how old are those? if too old
just donate for it

Hide625 08-12-2009 10:34 PM

It's pretty old late 90's model? I brought it back from Japan, it has a MD player, so pretty old. Are there any specific places I can donate to? I know I can donate somewhere but not certain where. For example if Salvation Army accepts them then I'll donate there.

I'm confused about something,

says on encorp's site that there's a fee to recycle stuff
http://www.encorp.ca/cfm/index.cfm?It=939&Id=7&Se=40

then with my bchydro bill i got a flyer that says
"Take our unused TV's, desktop computers, laptops, computer monitors and desktop printers at your local Encorp Return-It Electronics location free of charge"

:fuuuuu: so is it free or not?

illicitstylz 04-17-2010 05:36 PM

I had a few old printers that I brought to the salvation army on 3 road across lansedowne mall. Just drive to the back of the store, there's a bunch of containers that you just toss it into free of charge. There was a guy working there last time to help me out too and it's pretty well directed otherwise with signs

Not really. You pay an Environmental Handling Fee when you buy the item at the store. You've already paid.

Not if it was bought a long time ago or from other countries...

mickz 04-18-2010 12:14 AM

I would put it up on RS or Craigslist. Someone's bound to take it if the price is right (free.)

I got rid of a BIG box of old computer stuff via CL. Older mobos (I tossed out anything that used SD-RAM or older), optical drives, hard drives, joysticks, cases, keyboards, ball mice, etc. etc. Just put them all in a box and posted an ad: free to the first person who would just take the whole box. No picking through, no asking for details of the contents, just take the whole lot.

It was gone within two hours.

I drove by Killarney Secondary and it looks like they're holding an event like this too. Anybody know if any proceeds will go towards the schools?
