Selling a 360 Hey guys so I picked up a 1st gen Xbox 360 Arcade, fixed it, and now I'm trying to sell it and need advice. 1) what's a fair price for a used Arcade? There's a little damage on the back seam where the prior owner tried to open the case that I'm going to try and tidy up a bit but it will still be less than perfect. Also the USB door is missing the spring somehow so it doesn't stay shut. Apart from that it's in great shape. 2) All I have right now is the console, power cord, and the AV cable. Is it worth picking up a used controller and/or 20GB HDD to make it easier to sell/sell it for more? 3) Is it worth modding/offering to mod it to sell it for a bit more? I'm not up to date on 260 mods but I know I can do them easily. Thanks in advance for any advice. |
get the HDD + used controller for cheap if you can otherwise be prepared to get lowwballed. :) |
good point, I'm thinking I'll toss it up for $95 obo and adjust if I pick up a controller or HDD |
you fixed it as in you fixed the RROD or something else? |
Probably somewhere around 80-100. |

 I wish the new buyer good luck. |
no silly, learn to read, I did it the proper way. disassemble fully, bend x clamps slightly for proper pressure, put the DVD drive back on so you don't get bant from XBL, power it up to see if the pressure was enough (but it wasn't) then power it off and plug in the fans BUT place them so that one fires up/down on the CPU and not the GPU, allowing the GPU to warm up (without overheating) but not heating anything else, after about 10-15 mins power it down, let cool for 15-20 and start it up. the temp to melt Pb-free in such small amounts is pretty low. I was gonna add an extra fan while I was in there but I didn't have any that fit so meh. |
I have done all the things you've said in the past to my xbox360 (the very first gen version). The trick fixed the problem and lasted for 4 months...then it RROD again with the same error code. Used the same trick, it lasted for less than 4 months, then 2 months, few weeks, and at the end few hours. I found this guy who reballs xbox360 cpu at a very cheap price in Asia. He was nice enough to show me how he reballed my cpu and gpu at his place. You can google or youtube to see how it actually works. There are over a hundred solder balls under the CPU, and you can see microsoft cheap out on the soldering, a bunch of the solder balls under my cpu turned dull and stuck together. I am not an electronic specialist, but this is what he told me...he said if you are lucky, the solder will reflow again, but if you have some seriously "burned" solder dots (for example a light bulb terminals, if it turns black from over voltage or over heat, then it will not be conductive again, you can either replace the wire or the terminals) you will have to reball that particular solder. if I were you, I would sell it to somebody online asap, then get yourself a brand new xbox360, add some new fans and enjoy the games ;) |
yeah that's what I've realized about RROD's 360's when reading more online, it may fix it but if it gets hot at all again it'll get progressively worse as the solder they used to begin with was shit. the only real 100% fix being reballing, anything else is temporary depending on how long and hard you use the 360. I sold it this morning actually, I got such a large response from the one that I'm gonna look for a couple more. My roommate already has a 360 so I'm gonna use the bit of money I made toward a PS3 or Wii. Or a better TV |

I have a modded wii and xbox... I dont recommend the wii because its a kids gamming system... Go for the ps3 since you have your hands on a xbox already... |
That's kinda what I was thinking, to me the Wii is more of a secondary system I'd get after a PS3. But they're just so damn cheap. |
another question, looking to pick up another one from the states, does anyone know how border fees etc work? I have no idea and I don't wanna get fucked when it shows up and I have to pay a bunch extra on top of the shipping |

$50-$100 = $31.00 in brokerage fees $100-250 = $36.00 $250-$500 = $40.00 $500-$750 = $45.00 |
wow ok. Canada it is then. |
bizzump. got another that the guy said was "stuck in black and white." it appears he had the cables hooked up wrong *facepalm*. what would you say is fair for: console, 20GB HDD, power brick, and some sorta something with these cables: XBox RCA cables, XBox RCA/Component, Nyko component. I'm thinking $150ish, since a brand new Arcade that comes with next to nothing is $200. Think a wireless controller with play and charge is worth spending $25 on to make this easier to sell? thanks in advance. |
