Garage Floor Paint
 

Hello! Me and a friend are cleaning out my garages to setup a small shop to work on our cars. The floor is concrete and we cleaned, applied primer to it then painted the floors with "garage floor" paint from Rona. It's a 1 party epoxy paint. Only the first coat is on. I'm wondering if anyone has had personal experience with garage floor paint, if it actually works well against spills. I've heard of the rust-olium? No experience with that either.

Most one part epoxies don't work well because they aren't actually epoxies. Home Depot sold this Behr paint marketed as a one part epoxy and they had a big lawsuit because warm tires would peel the coating.

I would've went with a two part or installed tiles. I've heard good things about the Rust-oleum garage products but never used it myself. The only downside is it only comes in one size and two pre-tinted colors.

Thanks. I saw that same brand and type of paint at home depot. It's pretty much the same as what I bought from Rona. I hope mine doesn't end up peeling pre maturely. After doing some research, I learned that it's all in the preparation of the floor. I'll post updates if this crap does start peeling. I'm following the instructions as best I can.

How is it holding up so far?

My gf's family just did their garage floor last weekend but I cringed when she told me they used a one part epoxy from the Home Depot. She never told me what brand it was but I have a feeling it was Behr and it's going to start peeling soon.
