hmm, twinkle 2 is not bad with their beef noodle as well, they spend a long time on their soup, also it is made by a auntie from taiwan

I'm a glutton for punishment I love SPICY Beef Noodle Soup.

Surprisingly the best flavour I've had from Spicy Beef Noodle Soup was at "Taiwanese Beef Noodle" back in the day, the one that was almost 24/7 on Granville. Granted I was probably pretty drunk cuz I never eat there during "normal" dinner hours. They had like this INTENSE spicy soup (which was more Miss than Hit) ... so I've also been there and the spicy soup tasted like boiled water ... service was terribad too. The inconsistency ruined it!

LSD is great for value and it's the quantity is huge!... but it's definitely not the best bowl I've ever had. The noodle was pretty good, thick and just the right chewy texture but the soup flavour wasn't very good..

I've also walked by that Chef Hung place a couple times but I was crunched for time so there was no way I was gonna line-up like an hour to get in... but after reading the reviews on here (in the other thread) I'm glad I haven't since it doesn't seem to be worth it.\

Also there seems to be a general consensus that:
Taiwan Beef Noodle King at Oak & 67th has got some spicy, flavourful broth. I will definitely be checking that out when I have time!

Anyone try "Corner 23" by King Ed and Cambie? What's your take on that place?

Mugen EvOlutioN 01-07-2010 12:20 PM

no.1 beef noodle blows balls now, really watery and no taste

the first month they open was all good, now that place is going down

goo3 01-07-2010 09:43 PM

miss_crayon 01-07-2010 11:16 PM

no 1 beef noodle sucks balls. i'm going to hae to agree with mugen evolution. watery and no taste. i've given that place one too many tries, always hoping they'll be better..but no.

i hear corner 23 is pretty good from a taiwanese mom i met recently.

Wow screw you guys, browsing this thread and all i ended up with is a late night craving for noodle with beef.

Yea, agree. No.1 is pretty mediocre.

ShadowBun 06-13-2011 11:51 PM

Which one did you go to?

There's this one stand with an old hag that charges $7'ish for next to nothing. Rip off and it tastes like crap!

ShadowBun 06-14-2011 12:51 AM

i dont recall the exact name but it was near the windows facing the library
every time im there it was always a chick in her 20s or so (no old hag)

its about $8 or something for a rather big portion
im 6'2 and 190lbs and it fills me up

i would recommend trying the medium spicy one since its rather hot as u keep eating it

unit 06-14-2011 09:04 AM

im no expert, or even chinese, but i went to dinesty and thought theirs tasted pretty good

I went there once with some friends a couple months back. Nothing exceptional, just like most other asian BBT cafes.

turb0triX 06-20-2011 12:33 AM

the spicy beef noodle soup at the burnaby bubble world is pretty good.

Are you referring to this place?

I love their beef and tendon noodle soup and usually go out to crystal mall just for it.

Went to Taiwan Beef Noodle King during lunch today, got the standard beef noodle soup. Was delicious, the broth was amazing and a good amount of beef.

Which is the super spicy beef noodle soup? I only saw Hot & Sour or XO Spicy Soup, not sure which one it was, so got the regular one.

You can ask for it to be "ma la" and they'll give you spicy. Maybe it is the XO spicy, can't remember, haven't gone in a while. Got me feeling like it tomorrow though...

I went there for lunch today and thought the noodles were awesome. I order the Beef Noodle Soup with Beef Tendon. The soup base was full of flavor, the beef shank and tendon was cooked right, and the noodles were chewy. I think they are handmade?

It's the best I've had so far in Van, better than Lao Shan Dong, Chef Hung, No. 1 Beef Noodle, Huang's Beef Noodle, Corner 23. Any other suggestions?

Obsideon 05-26-2013 01:14 PM

Just came back from Taiwan a few months ago ... ever since then every bowl of Beef Noodle in Vancouver has been below-average ... couldn't even finish it cuz so disappointed...

Which place has the best SPICY beef noodle ... really craving the kick in the "ma la" version, but it seems like nobody makes it like that, everywhere I order spicy only ends up drizzled with chili oil and it's not spicy at all ... :heckno:
