Xfactor Detailed: Modded 996 Turbo [Lots of pictures...LOTS]

My friend referred his uncle who owns this and an A8L that I'll be doing tomorrow. As well as quite a few other vehicles. This 996 Turbo is one raspy sounding ride, but I'm not complaining. This was booked in for everything but polishing. I may be polishing it later on. It got full interior, and wash and wax exterior, as well as wheel wells/engine bay detailed. Anyways here is what I used for the products:

Wash:
- 2 Bucket Method w/ Grit Guards
- Proline Grout Sponge
- Majestic Solutions Super Green Stuff
- Dawn Dish Washing Soap
- Majestic Solutions Ultra Gloss

Wheels/Tires:
- Majestic Solutions Super Green Stuff
- Raceglaze XL Wheel Brush
- Meguiars Tire Brush
- Old Sponge cut in half
- Gloss-It Signature Tire Gloss

Interior:
- Majestic Solutions Leather & Plastic Cleaner
- Lexol Leather Conditioner
- Finish Kare 108 Dressing
- Finish Kare 316 Fabric Sealant
- Chemical Guys Window Cleaner
- RagShack Window WW
- Wal-Mart MFs
- Autowerkes Exclusive MF Applicator Pads

Engine Bay:
- Majestic Solutions Super Green Stuff
- Finish Kare 108 Dressing
- Autowerkes Exclusive MF Applicator Pads

Last Step Protection:
- Bilt Hamber Autobalm
- Black Fire Foam Applicator:worship2:
- Rag Shack Super Fly Towel

On to the pictures!:thud:

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...ailing/041.jpg

Ken taught me this way of applying Autobalm. It works very well, lets you do a larger area without having the wax dry up on you.... you don't want Autobalm to dry. Here is how I do it, mist the area lightly with water
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...ailing/042.jpg
Then apply, and wipe off...simple and effective

Collinite 845 for the windows, love doing this...works like a charm

Also i wouldn't have posted the pics of the key hole if you were going to say that's the "after". You may have been rushed, but try not to post blurry pictures, it takes away from the potential of showing off a good detail. and no one like to look at blurry pictures.

nope just used the Raceglaze XL Brush for behind the spoked, the tire brush was for scrubbing the tires after APC. They key hole wasn't rushed, just I couldn't get 100% of the gunk off. I'd say about 85-90% is gone. Thanks for the tips though:thumbsup:

Are the engine bay products sort of like multi purpose detailers for the bits in there?
How much does it cost you everytime you do something like this? I imagine it must be a fortune!

Good job on the wheels although They are a pretty ugly looking design from up close though, not ur fault XD

Lol wut? gum on the seats??? now thats something u don't see everyday in a 996 turbo..

For the engine bay sprayed on some Majestic Solution Super Green Stuff (All Purpose Cleaner), then let it soak for a bit and wiped it off. After that I sprayed the engine bay with my Finish Kare 108 Poly Protectant and wiped it off which left the shine.

water...I just make sure I don't get it all over the place. I sheet the water off, you got my PM right?

ilvtofu 08-01-2009 09:25 PM

yup, do u charge extra for SUVs?
How about extra cheap for a smart cabrio?
Thanks :)

BrendanS 08-01-2009 09:26 PM

Depending on how big the SUV is, what are you looking for to get done to the smart?

ilvtofu 08-01-2009 09:34 PM

Just an X3 not too big,

Smart needs general wax and the rear window (cheap plastic) is scratched up, but i believe that can be polished out or something based on what ppl say on smart forums, not a big deal with that car, don't think i'll bother. The X3 is the one that really needs it XD

What do u do for cleaning undercarriage?
there are some paint scratch marks where the paint is gone, would it be fine to not worry about it? The cars only 2 years old, actually kinda sad lol

Washing the car doesn't do much nemore...
Anything you can do to the back window so it doesn't get all dusty so easily?

I wax all the windows so it will repel the dust a bit better after it's waxed. For undercarriage I just use a pressure washer to give it a clean. Gets some dirt off, not the most thorough job but it works. I can polish the plastic window for you and see what it can do, no guarantee though. The X3 I'll do it for the price you gave me, the smart take off $10.

I'm looking at your pricing, i'm wondering what the Or in the "extended detail package" means

BrendanS 08-01-2009 09:42 PM

it's your choice of Collinite 845 or Bilt Hamber Auto Balm

ilvtofu 08-01-2009 09:45 PM
