buying a Tent, need help?

What is the difference of a walmart coleman tent cost 30$-50$ VS Coast mountain sports/ mountain equipment coop tents cost 180$-400$.

I camp 3-4 times a year. I want something durable that is quick to setup, quick to pack and put away.

Should i pay high price or go budget?

Any knowledgeable campers here, please help me out.

I need a 2-3 person tent. Nothing more/nothing bigger.

I bought a $50.00 tent (Sleeps 3) at Superstore and it did the job right. I just came back from Golden Ears as a matter of fact.

Durable and extremely easy to put up and take down.

when you start going backpacking, like, actually carrying your tent with you when you hike, weight is one of the biggest factors - as well as design of the tent, how well it packs, etc. if you're just going to go car camping, then a cheap one should be fine if it's good weather.

you should make sure seams are taped (better weatherproofing), in case you hit some rain - and it's relatively easy to set up. and if you're car camping - size is nice - a good large tent is probably better for you than the small light ones you get from mec for backpacking/trekking...

I mostly do car camping. I guess i will go to crappy tire or walmart for cheap tent. It would be nice to have some nice light weight tent in case of a backpacking trip however.

is the Fly over the tent waterproof on all tent?

Dont spend too much on a tent, any tent will do the job.

The reason why some tents cost more than others is b/c of the number of seasons its made for.

some tents are built only for summer.. while others can be built for spring, summer and fall. It does make a difference.

Higher end tents are also lighter and pack up smaller so if you plan to do some hiking before you set up camp.. a higher end tent might be a better solution..

coast mountain ones are most likely built using light weight strong parts, like cf poles, lighter fly material.

ive seen some super high tech super easy to put up tents, for 4 ppl, that go up in seconds, and also weigh less than a pound and take up very little space.

the cheaper tents will do the job and unless ur backpacking in to the camping area, u dont need a super high end tent.

i have 3 tents

3-4man tent, relatively light weight and small, for backpacking.

6man tent, if backpacking with friends, thus can distribute the weight of the tent itself.

megadome aka the "3 room casino", 24'x24', for car camping no way in hell u can lug this on a backpack!
