i had a very close call with the same situation, so every time i have to work on my car using a jack i make sure to use jack stands.

The car had been raised on one side but the jack gave way in the grass.

The Mazda was parked on a downhill grade.

The wheels were not blocked and the emergency brake was not set, police said.

wow... i would have imagined an older person to have more sense when it came to things like this

my buddy had his engine fall on him for his classic car, dont remember him being hurt though (it was just the engine not the car) think it fell off his engine stand or something

but anyway jack stands and those big hydraulic jacks with those long tubes etc for me

JSALES 07-29-2009 12:27 AM

i hope this never happens to me

ChyahGT 07-29-2009 12:38 AM

Isn't that a good way to curb your wheels to hell?

try putting something there to cover your wheels. I put a long piece of wood in between the car and wheels. Just don't ever use those cement slabs that looks like large domino pieces; I've seen one of those break when a trans am was "held" up with it....
