Cyclists launch rival to Critical Mass

"A new group, Critical Manners, has emerged after Friday's controversial Critical Mass ride in Vancouver."

ok when is this going to stop.....

if you wanna ride a bike then ride a bike, it's like people who ride motorcycle in a city filled with SUVs. You think other drivers are rude to you well you just brought a knife to a gun fight. Anyone operating a 1+ ton piece of metal spearing down a road at 50 is a lethal weapon you just DECIDED that you don't want protection from it. Now stop whining about how people are driving around you and moreover STOP RIDING if you don't really have any fucking where to go, you can't afford a car? Fuck just get a proper job I'm sure that bicycle of yours is more expensive than some beaters out there. My 2 cents.

silly bikers.

you guys read that article? gregor robertson attended a critical mass before to try to get votes.

and now he says he doesn't support it. yes, that is the type of mayor you guys elected. NEVER vote to the left.

^ I wouldn't just hate on Gregor Robertson. I take the fact that he went to CM once to show his support for cyclists. Even he himself says that he doesn't support CM "in its current form."

With that said though, it would be awesome if he attended a Critical Manners ride.

Anyone know if CManners was founded locally?

Mugen EvOlutioN 08-01-2009 08:56 AM

:rolleyes:whats there to support?

anyone wonna support street racers or speeders or modificatoin enthusiast

slammer111 08-01-2009 09:03 AM

^ It's the same thing about RS. Some people on this forum love street racing, others are just into putting nice rims and wings onto their cars.

To the outsider, we're all just streetracers. But not everyone has that mentality.

I'd imagine it's the same thing with CM. I'm sure a lot of people are there to support bikes, but are NOT there to break traffic rules, but have no choice or risk losing the entire group and end up as some lone cyclist on the road.

racing: take it off the streets

"Watkiss said the Critical Manners ride was established in San Franciso in 2007 in reaction to Critical Mass rides that were “getting out of hand.”

Yes because in soviet russia bike rides you.

BNR32_Coupe 08-02-2009 02:48 AM

why dont we have a car meet and jsut block them?

Drift_Monkey 08-02-2009 03:45 AM

why are they fighting for more road space? I don't even see a single bike on the road when it snows. Even if we build them a road, they won't use it in the winter. its just a damn waste. If they don't utilize that bike lane on burrard during the winter, there no need to make more.

if they choose to bike, just share the road, why try to get your own lane when there is less than 5% biking.

I'm sure they take transit, car pool, and drive in the winter. And when winter comes they complain that traffic is horrible because the bike lanes are blocking up traffic.

These bikers will stfu once the summer is over and I bet all the bike lanes in the city will be empty when it's pissing rain for the next 6 months and getting dark at 4pm.

Exact-Fucking-Actly

My former landlords actually do bike to work (live in Mt. Pleasant, bike to Coal Harbour area) and do so year round. Rain, shine, snow, hail, sleet, etc. The true cyclists and people who care still drive (Yes, they actually have a Pathfinder). but cycle for other reasons as well (keep in shape/active, avoid traffic congestion) etc. You know what they do? THEY TAKE THE DESIGNATED BIKE ROUTES AND HAVE NO PROBLEMS.

that was last summer dude. people grow and change in the span of a year.

it's a nice change to see a politician be able to change their opinion about something instead of being so full of pride that they'd "never back down" for fear of looking like a pussy.

if that was the case, then im sure there would be people pissed at him for not changing his opinion. so he loses either way.

But is he changing his opinion... or just pandering?
