Asked to switch Shaw Modem? Last week some random guy called me and asked me to bring my old Shaw Cable Modem to the Shaw Tower to get it exchanged/upgraded to a different/new one. I asked him why this is necessary and he said they are currently upgrading their system and my old one might not be compatible or even function in the near future and he said the benefits now would be faster speeds and all that jazz. Did this happen to any of you guys? Is it really faster?.. is there some kinda catch? I dunno, my internet is still working perfectly fine I dunno if it's even worth the hassle to unplug it all and drive it down to the store. |
which modem do u have? |
Tell him you don't have any legs and the batteries are dead on your wheelchair and ask if a technician can bring one over instead. |
the new modem will use the docsis network you can get them to mail you the new one |
in simple english, new modem gives you 50% more speed, and it's true |

Well I dont mind since I also work downtown but if there is NO difference then it's a waste of time. So then I'm assuming most of you have already got it? |
If you have one of the really old, large, black modems, you should definitely get it replaced. That thing is a pile of shit as far as speed and consistency goes. If you have the old, blue "shark fin" Terayon modem and you're using Shaw High Speed or better, I'd still recommend it. You will get better speeds, but not as substantial as the older black one above. If you have High Speed Lite, don't bother (at least until your internets stops working, if ever). If you have the black Motorola modem, I wouldn't bother. You might get a little bit better speeds. The only thing I've noticed since upgrading to the blue Motorola modem is that it doesn't die every 6 months like those black POSes did. If yours is still working, you're luckier than I am. |

they mail you out the new one. you swap it out with old one and put the old one back in the package and mail it back. postage is paid for it's all free you should get faster speeds as long as the signal coming into your modem is good. also, you'll get power boost included |
