2009 outlander so after looking at nissans rouge, subaru forester, toyota rav4 and honda crv my dad finally decided on the outlander after i brough him to the dealership to actually see the car since he always had something with not getting a mitsubishi anyways he was thinking on the 4 cyclinder one but barely anything left and the sales person is trying to help us find one is there any cons/known problems to this car ?? i mean the warranty is crazy 10 year powertrain <-- my dad likes haha and we are thinking about getting the 2010 outlander but not really liking the front since its gunna be like a lancer and evo front and anyone know how much bargining room i got for the outlander?? |
not much room to bargain, they sell like hotcakes...I got mine for only $500 under MSRP back in Dec 2008. I've had no problems whatsoever so far, but mine's a LS V6. Dunno how the CVT is in the 4cyls. The only thing I would recommend you get is the extra clearbra (they call it the Protection Film) for the rocker panels. The front wheels tend to throw rocks and dirt up, which chips the paint at the front of the rear wheel wells. |
the 4cylinder is enough power for what my dad does daily for the v6 whats the gas milage your getting? |
L4...20/25 V6...17/23 168hp should be enough for daily use. it should feel like CRV |

I'd just worry about the longevity of the CVT for the 4cyl models, then again with a 10 year powertrain warranty it shouldn't be an issue. |
just curious but why did your dad choose the outlander? back when my dad bought his new forester, the outlander didn't score very high in all the comparisons that were out at the time  |
HI THERE. IM A DOUCHE AND GOT MYSELF BANNED! |
nvmnd |
From what I heard about the 2010 Outlander, the facelift (evo-look alike) will only occur on the "GT" trim level, the rest should still look like the current model. I was also considering the Outlander because it is so much cheaper compared with other SUV's in the same class. Plus I really like the knob for 2wd/4wd/lock~ Consider Hyundai Santa Fe? same warranty |
you really think this is cool? http://www.autoinfection.com/wp-cont...ander-gt-1.jpg http://www.mitsubishicars.com/MMNA/c...ander_gt_3.jpg |

hyundia my dad wouldn't even go in even when we were at the richmond automall ahha and for the 2010 model the front does look bad but the back is pretty much the same |

Damn looks nice from behind, front bumper could be reworked but still pretty good looking IMO But i've checked this car out and didn't find the car to feel very solid, didn't test drive it though... but warranty is *drool* |
warranty is golden 10 year drive train - 160k KM 5 year bumper to bumper - 60k KM 5 year road side assistance - unlimited KM i will probably stay within all of those since my dads current car is at 105xxxKM and its 15 years old |
update so today my dad went and put a deposit on it to get the car question is that what kind a government taxes will there be? i know there is ac and battery but the guy said some other fee i gotta put in is there anywhere i can find out how much totally of these fees i have to pay? im questioning this becuz the finance person told my dad 725.xx each month and after calculating everything myself i will have to pay 1782.xx in fees |
I believe there is another Tax for the Tires, but it is something small like $25... any other fees should be negotiable (even if they say the fees aren't negotiable), but you've already put down a deposit, so I wonder if there is still anything you can do... |
its only a deposit so we get the car since there is only a couple left didnt sign any papers yet for buying the car |
Which dealership did your dad go? some charge a $300 financing fee also. |
richmond one |
There should be the following (numbers were from last year when I got my car so may not be accurate anymore): $385 document fee $300 financing fee $40 fee to the bank for financing $30 Tire/Battery Levy $100 Air Tax plus GST/PST |
thanks for the info now it makes a lot more sense i was wondering how the scrap it program works do i just fill out the online application and then fax my insurance in? im getting the car in a couple of days so does that still work? |
i guess im not going to have to do the scrap it program since my dads co worker wants to buy the van going to go pick up the car tmr outlander v6 LS |

ugh... so many extras :( |

I have no regrets with mine, he will surely enjoy it. |
haha yeah plus the cost difference is about 1k and the extra features you get lots of power in the v6 when i drove it ... but what i found is that i could not move the steering wheel closer to me so its crap but the brakes work great does anyone know where i can get wheel locks locally and not from the dealer. they charge way too much |
