M5 getting old, like really old, not fair to compare, although it's still fairly competitive performancewise :)
style is getting bland and interior is just ...

but the drivetrain!

I haven't driven the M5 nor the XF let alone the XFR, but I can imagine the M5 being more "fun" to drive than the XFR as it seems more "raw". My vote goes to the M5.

the new xfr looks freaking awesome..... drools everytime however a m5 is ... another 5 series

AVS_Racing 08-06-2009 01:09 AM

XFR FTW il take it over m5 anyday

godwin 08-06-2009 01:48 AM

XFR is new, M5 is at the end of life. In reality it is pretty hard to compare cars since they all come out at staggered times and goal posts only improve... eg XFR's ZF transmission shift time would not be possible with the ZF transmission that was at the market then (due to a trick torque converter) when the M5 came out.

JSALES 08-06-2009 01:50 AM

i'd rather take the XFR

unit 08-06-2009 01:55 AM

the front of the XFR screams 'chrysler'. i'll take the M5.

hmm i duno if ull buy a new m5 or used, but thn my frd bought a used m5,the transmission locked up on the smg 7 speed, brought it to the dealer, replace flywheel n clutch, fuel pump failed, water is leakin to the interior of the car, when he first got the car it seem fined, then in couple of month more n more problem coming out

AhXian 08-06-2009 02:25 AM

don't know about the XFR but the m5's launch control is addicting, not to mention the shifts with WOT at redline is just neck-breaking.

that seems like one hell of a fucked up car right there

Leopold Stotch 08-06-2009 08:11 AM

Mugen EvOlutioN 08-06-2009 08:38 AM

Quattroporte is a lot more expensive than the XFR and a bit more expensive than the M5, but it's not the same sort of car, M5/XFR are semi track purposed cars, whereas the quattroporte isn't... at least not in base form

M5 is fugly. XFR is light (relatively) and chuckable. Not to mention it's fricking handsome.

Gt-R R34 08-06-2009 03:56 PM

JAAAAAAAAAAAAG

Harvey Specter 08-06-2009 05:06 PM

The M5 is getting dated but good news is the new 5 series is coming out this year so the new M5 should follow soon.

godwin 08-06-2009 05:31 PM

XFR is still old construction.. basically it is a reskinned S Type.. so weight difference is not huge.. it is smaller than the M5.. with only about 100kg advantage.

In the end M5 since it is NA it can rev higher.. so it has a better sound to some.

I would choose the XFR even though the M5 has a button to flip from 400hp -> 500hp. =P

Z3guy 08-07-2009 09:31 AM

both cars are built for different purposes, the Jag leans more towards comfort w/ performance while the M5 leans towards performance w/ comfort features. Regardless, your are comparing a brand new model (Jag) Vs the E60 which is at the end of the cycle. On a track, the M5 would still beat the jag though.

Wait until the new M5 comes out in a few years.......TT V8 with 550hp and 500lbs of torque....

last thing i wonna do is floor it, wait wait...let me pull over and pull out my manual, so i can relase the 500hp beast inside the engine. let see, push this button, turn this dial.....5 minutes goes by...YES IM SET!

i wonna floor it when i want, 500hp available when i want. Not some stupid button
