2003 Honda Accord EX Thinking of picking up a 2003 Honda Accord EX coupe (full load w/manual transmission) with roughly 100,000km's on the clock. I've a friend with an '05 Accord EX sedan and I know she hasn't had much in the way of problems with it (asides from a dead battery the day she picked it up from the dealership), but I was wondering what are some common issues with this generation and the 4cyl engine in particular. Anything that I should be wary of? Any common electrical issues? Anything like VW's and their plastic window regulators? TIA. |
should be pretty solid maintenance wise cant compare to VW, it is basically a maintenance free car other than the basics |
i got a 03 accord since its a manual theres basicly NOTHING to worry about go to v6performance.net for more info more or less its a solid car |
^^ I'm assuming there'd be basic info at v6performance because anything regarding the v6 is useless as I'm looking at a 4cyl. This'll be my long distance family hauler... the MX6 is still going to be my performance car... lol. |
nope theres quite a bit on there about 4cylinders as well i got a k24 on my 03 accord ex-l auto tho.... fyi honda's having a sale right now so if you wanna get the hfp (honda factory performance) kit or anything give them a call thye can get stuff for cheap |
well thats good you're not getting the 6th Gen. accord 98-2002 in Auto. I have 3 friends who have that car and all got transmission problems once their car was over 100K kms. |

I was looking for a 5spd Accord EX last year in August. I ended up with a 6 only because the Mazda6Sport is a hatchback (but looks like a sedan on the outside). You can fit tons of crap in this thing, and it's got awesome road manners on the Coquihalla highway. Oh, you also get a rev-happy 220hp V6 with a 5spd manual that burns regular gas (vs a not so rev-happy 4cylinder on the Accord when you're trying to crawl up the Coquihalla hwy!) |
Oh I forgot to mention, when I was looking at Accords, I can only find an unmolested LX model for what I paid for my Mazda 6 GT.. |

it's TL 99-03 accord 98-05 v6 ONLY CL 01-03 odyessy 99 -00(for those who got the 200hp 3.0L) all those cars used the same j30a2/a4 and have the same stupid tranny the people with 4 bangers would be free! because due to their lack of power and torque, I was told that the tranny in our cars were used a while ago with honda's 4 cylinder cars where theres much less power, and when the v6 came they shove the same tranny in to save money and to have more problems..... however that been said for accords 00-01 had slight better tranny which they offer a 10 year warranty on 02 said the problems were all fixed and shouldn't have a problem so just the basic 5 year power train |
