need help planning hawaii vacation

Hey guys

i have vacation time from mon aug 31- sat sept 5. me and my gf are interested in going to hawaii but turns out there are several islands there and we dont know which one to go to.

We ideally would like to do lots of sight seeing, see some wildlife/aqua, and pretty much enjoy the view and culture. We are not into shopping/partying.

Which island do you guys recommend personally?

thanks in advance.

Maui, quiet and peaceful. Nice beaches and peaceful. Oahu is more the mainland. Their version of 7-eleven is the ABC store

Maybe take one of those Island cruises that visit all the islands? It'll give you a taste of each one.

Otherwise, Maui is your best bet. Oahu is much more commercialized although if you've never been to Hawaii, you'll probably want to spend at least a day or two in Oahu to see the sights before you head off to Maui or any of the other islands.

Tripadvisor is your friend!
I'm actually leaving for Honolulu in a few hours and we're staying at Aqua Bamboo & Spa. It's a couple blocks away from the beach and it has good reviews and we booked it at a good price.

Last year I stayed at Aston Waikiki Beach Hotel (back then it was ResortQuest) and it was also good, although a bit further down from the Waikiki strip (near the zoo and aquarium).
Both hotels come with free continental breakfast. It's always great for saving a bit of money.

+1 Maui (If you didn't book your flight)
Also go get the Hawaii for Dummies book good investment for sightseeing and accomadations and rent a car while your at it.

My wife and I are going to oahu (honolulu) at the end of September to attend a wedding. and will be staying at best western coconut.

I have search everywhere and found this website to have a good deal for hotel

http://travel-hawaii.com

I place the payment on Aug 4, and got a confirmation email on Aug 12. So i call the hotel and it is all confirm. Maybe you can call them and ask for confirmation for quicker reponse.

below are the activities which we will be doing :

1) Segway anyone try the below tour before?

either www.segwayofhawaii.com or www.segventure.com

2) luau - paradise cove

will try the most expensive one and sit in the royal box, coz we don't like to lineup for drinks

3) snorkel @ Hanauma Bay

either by bus, taxi, or shuttle from hotel for $17 (include mask, fin)

Maui is awesome for scenery and romance.

Kauai too if you want to see stuff like this:

Waikiki? It's like Vegas plus a beach minus the casinos and strippers.

If you're set on Oahu, go to Priceline.com to book your hotels. I got a 4-star resort for $99/night right on the beach. Then rent a car and explore the island (Use Priceline for this too - $20/day for a mid-size car).
