Need Help with hard starting Echo My wife has a 2001 toyota echo. Once you've been driving it for a while and is fully warmed up, it's very difficult to start after stopping and sitting for a half hour or so. It takes alot of cranking before finally starting, when it does finally start, it runs very rough for a few seconds. I've found that if I crank it 2 or three times, wait like 5 seconds then try again it'll fire right up. When it's sat overnight or for a lengthy period of time where it's had lots of time to cool off, it starts right up. Very strange symptoms. Anybody got any insight what the problem may be or things to try? |
fuel pump? i would check to see if there are any pressure changes in the gas line. |
Change your filter, my 05 Echo had the same problem :( Fixed that and its all good, that and it doens't hurt. |

One of three problems usually arises from this predicament. 1: you need a new fuel pump/regulator 2: your spark plugs have no more SPARK and 3: you have a rusty corroded wire or harness and need a new distributor unit. :suspicious: |
no distributor in this car... direct coil on plug... |
