looking for movers I did a search on this but can't find anything. I'm moving next week and was wondering what moving company you guys would recommend/not recommend. Would be great if you can write down their rates as well. I found a few ads on Craigslist but wanted your guys recommendations before calling them. Thank you. |
wut i did was to hire a couple of guys from craigslist & rent a Budget truck. 2 guys for $20/hr x 8 hrs = 320 + 150 truck rental + tips = $500 to move my entire house |
I used Top Moves for the past 2 moves, their men were good and "mostly" on time (I was the 2nd appointment in a day, so yeah), but they are getting more and more expensive. |
If you want cheap, go to those asian moving companies. "yenyen" (people people) for one. |
i have 2 friends that used "yun yun" before and they did good work. almost certain you'll need to speak chinese though to use them. i used 2 men with big hearts or something like that before and they were good, that was many years ago though. I'd go against using ppl off craigs or random 'companies'. i had a friend that hired a moving 'company' that head 16 years experience from a newspaper ad. turned out to be an old guy whom i assume has the 'experience' and he had 2 random bums that looked like DTES crackheads moving the stuff. my friend and his cousin ended up helping to move the big/heavy expensive stuff b/c they looked so incompetent and he didnt want his stuff damaged. really bad experience. |

I was wondering if you would be interested in hiring my son. I need him to have a job like this so he can feel better about himself. He has been paralyzed from the neck down for five years now. I always encourage him to do normal things like mow the lawn, take out the trash, etc. so he can still feel important even though he does not have the use of his arms or legs. This job would be a huge boost in his self-esteem and with a little help I am sure he can do it. Please consider him! |

Few questions first - Can i put furniture On top of him? Since he has no feeling from the neck down i assume i can mount things on his gumby like body and push the wheelchair to the waiting truck. - If i was to devide the human body into 1/3's, Head, torso/arms, legs. Because your son only has a head that works he is worth only a third of an able bodied mover. So i assume i can also pay him a 1/3 of 20 dollars and hour. 7$ seems reasonable, i rounded up because im not a monster. - Is his wheelchair electric or manually operated. I'd be willing to pay slightly more an hour if it had one of those joystick electric chairs. not only would i not have to push him around in said chair, but ive always wanted to try one of those things and never had the opportunity. - If he is not able to do the thing above i may be able to still give him a job. I have some valuable furniture that im worried will slide around in side a moving truck. I would be willing to hire your son as a buffer between the wall of the truck and my furniture so it wont get scratched. Thanks in advance -sean |
