I recently took a turn behind the wheel of the Lexus LF-A supercar during a 24-hour endurance competition in Germany on one of the world’s toughest tracks. It was a great test for me and a good way to improve an exceptional car that we will soon bring to market.

And to that point, I am happy to announce this morning that Toyota plans to build an exciting...fun-to-drive...affordable sports car and launch it within the next few years.

I am very excited about it...and I plan to fast-track it.
The guy drove the LF-A and was happy about having a sports car in Toyota, so he's gonna fast track that Subaru-Toyota love child i.e. the next AE86.

Nothing to do with LF-A as far as I can tell.

i thought this was going to be in the $1/4 million league with ferrari and lambo

It pains me to say it but that seems to be the way of the future for these kinds of cars. All the fastest cars are all paddle shift.

asian_XL 08-15-2009 06:47 PM

we'll see LFA when R36 GTR comes out

Being fast and being engaging are two entirely different matters, I sometimes wish manufacturers would worry less about the actual numbers and performance figures and focus on driver interaction.

performance numbers is what get ppl to buy the cars. most ppl don't really care about overall the driving experience. most just want something that goes fast in a straight line, and that's it.

impactY 08-16-2009 01:15 AM

Manual transmission is becoming obsolete. Almost all modern trucks no longer come in manual transmission. all auto.
