1 month free trial Air Optix contact lenses

http://www.airoptix.com/FreeTrial/index.shtml

just put in your email address and they send you a certificate which you print out and take to participating stores. They may require an eye exam.

silk 08-17-2009 06:01 PM

thanks dude!

MR_BIGGS 08-17-2009 06:02 PM

Thanks..was gonna buy air optix...wasn't covered when i bought my contacts..

pawdregry4g 08-17-2009 06:08 PM

Most eye stores give you a free trial pair when you're trying a new set of contacts. So you might want to keep the coupon for a second pair after they give you your trial set.

jnesss 08-17-2009 06:13 PM

thanks, my buddy was just telling me about these. he sleeps with them on -_-..

in a few years, hes gonna figure out that the contacts have stuck to his eyeballs.

invader 08-17-2009 11:15 PM

sleeping with the contacts on are risky...but a lot of people do it surprisingly.

jlo mein 08-18-2009 01:20 AM

I complained to my optometrist that my Acuvue Oasis lenses were slightly uncomfortable. The fit didn't seem right as they seemed to shift when I would blink. He gave me Air Optix lenses and I have been happy since.

InvisibleSoul 08-18-2009 02:21 AM

First of all, there are ALWAYS these offers for free trial pairs of contacts...

Only problem is, most optical stores won't honour them UNLESS you're getting an eye exam with them and/or commit to buying a bunch of contact lenses along with the free trial.

Uh... that's what these contact lenses are designed for. They are FDA approved for up to 30 nights of continuous wear.

I think this is actually a myth. Have you ever known of anyone personally that went blind or got serious eye problems from wearing contact lenses for long periods of time? I haven't even read of any such stories. I don't doubt that real cases exist, but I don't think the risk is ANYWHERE close to what the majority of people think it is.

Well, I'm not going to lie and say that what I do is ideal, but it's a pretty safe bet that I wear my contacts for longer durations of time than anyone you know.

I wear the shorter duration version, O2 Optix, and have been for the past several years.

Guess how long I have been wearing my current pair of contact lenses continuously, 24 hours per day?

Spoiler!

So... yeah, I don't believe that wearing contacts longterm causes eye damage.

same here..when i was 16(in a youth detetion center)..i wore the same set of contacts for almost 8 months straight day and night..i use to swim and take showers with them on..no problems with my eyes since..i forgot which brand they were though..

q0192837465 08-18-2009 09:55 AM

goood, time to get rid of those nerdy glasses

pawdregry4g 08-18-2009 02:10 PM

when i first started wearing contacts, I wore them everyday and for long periods of time. My eyes became irritably dry after a few months of this and I had to switch contact lenses to a more moisturized one. Now I wear glasses for a couple of days in between the week to avoid this issue.

I would not recommend what you are doing to anyone. Everyone's eyes are different and could react differently to long term contact lens wear. Following your optometrists advise would be a good idea.

I have a friend who now cannot wear contact lenses for 1-2 years due to problems caused by extended contact lens wear. No permanent eye damage, but his optometrist saw reduced health in his eyes that was being caused by leaving the contacts in every night.

I wouldn't recommend it either... but on the other hand, I think the dangers of it are totally exagerated. Sure, it could cause problems... but I don't think it's THAT common... and certainly not a certainty that it will cause problems.

I mean, if they have contact lenses that approved for 30 days of continuous wear now, would it REALLY make a difference if you wore them for 60 days? 90 days? 120 days?

the rule of thumb is 1.5x. The general stardard is to engineer things that will work 1.5x its stated working life. If it says 30 days, wearing it for 45 days will be fine. Over that then it's at your own risk.

InvisibleSoul 08-18-2009 03:54 PM

So the contact lens will stop working properly after 45 days, or in my case, 9 days?

Not that it'll stop working, I'm just saying if they say it works 30 days, then it's engineered to work in its optimal condition for 1.5x that (ie. 45 days). How the function declines after that depends on the product. Your contact lens could be work at 90% for next 100 days, that's why u never notice any difference.

My contacts get dry and blurry if I wear them for over 12 hours. I don't know how the fuck you've been wearing them for over two years. Have you ever had any eye infections? I notice that my weekly Acuvue Oasys get thicker after I wear them for a few weeks compared to a fresh pair. And for some weird reason, I always get little slit cuts in them (looks like there's something stuck in it), I might be picking them up wrong.

Perhaps the dangers are exaggerated, but I don't think it matters. Vision is one of the most important senses we have, and at least to me, the stakes are far too high to be betting on contact lens safety limits.

I've always speculated that older contacts feel thicker because they have shrunk slightly from no longer being able to retain as much moisture. Fresh contacts always feel thinner and wider to me. Slit cuts can occur in your lenses when conditions are too dry when you're handling them, either the lens, your eye, or you fingers. If your lens/eye feels dry when removing contacts you can try eye drops before taking them out. If your fingers are dry just try wetting them a little.

No, I've never ever had any eye infections or any other eye problems.

i wear coopervision encore spheres. I think they are the most comfortable contacts ever. They never dry up unless I'm stoned and fall asleep in them. Last eye exam they recommended 02 optics for me since I wear my contacts for 16+ hours a day. I tried them and they sucked bigtime, always getting dry and irritating my eyes.
