connecting ps2 to monitor

alright.... heres my situation. i bought a monitor the other day, its out 3 ports, dvi, vga, and hdmi. dvi is used by my computer.... Ideally i'd like to connect my ps2 to my hdmi port, because my monitor has a built in speaker which i can use..... i thought of hdmi to composite, but i cudnt find any on ncix or bestbuy, i also tried googling it, and i dont really see many around. i saw a couple other post with people using tv tuner card? im not sure how that works. i was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how i can connect my ps2 to my monitor.
TIA

The reason why you do not see any compatible adaptors, is becuase you are trying to convert analog to digital... This cannot be done without a special adaptor($200)... How a tv tuner card works is, it has coaxial and composite inputs... So you can connect the composite direct into the tv tuner card, but you have to play off your computer... Only option is to find a VGA to composite, I checked one of my electronics supplier and cant seem to find this kinda connection... Might have to search online.

^ ah ok, i did a lil more googling and i found out what u said. my only question now is, if i use a tv tuner card, does my shitty computer affect the run speed of pictures and all that? if at all possible, can someone explain how the tv tuner card works exactly? to the extent an idiot would understand.

VGA to composite or component is your best bet
audio might be a problem though
im assuming you have a set of computer speakers...you would have to connect to that but you'll probably need an red/yellow to auxillary cable
if this monitor is new..i suggest you return it and buy a small tv to save you the troubles

^ agreed

basically a tuner card samples the video, converts it to digital, sends it through your computer, to your monitor. some cards have quite a bit of lag, combined with a slow computer, will not work well. get something with the proper inputs

That might do... Might have compatibility issues... Better off with a converter box.. $30

Dont even bother thinking about tv tuners, too much drama especially for what your looking to do.. If you want a computer Pvr then we can talk...

You'll need something like this to go from PS2 to the monitor:
