Heater issues

So, as per my sig, on my 04 rsx-s... I just noticed.

Whenever I turn the dial (from 20-30 in canadian model, 25 being the midpoint) to anywhere between 20-25, the air stays as cold air flowing in normally. Now usually, i turn 25 for a bit of warm air to come in... and it's summer, so i haven't used heat in a while, thought i'd try it (bit chillier as per the wind these days)

Here's the kicker though, I try cranking it to 30 (the max heat) and it's blowing out super hot air as usual. go down one notch... it's blowing less hot, but still heat.

Basically anywhere from 26-30 deg, it's blowing increasingly hot air as usual, anywhere from 25-20 (the lesser half), it's just blowing cold, just as if it was at 20 (the min)

I searched up, and lots of people are telling me to look at the white gears near the front of my center console (where it switches from cold --> hot), but i definitely know it works at the higher end, but it definitely also doesn't put out ANY heat at 25 (midpoint).

Checked fuses, and they were fine... please don't tell me this is a heater core thing...

TIA,
DIGGY

P.S. just to make sure i wasn't tripping, i took my infrared laser temp sensor gun and pointed it at my vents, going up a notch everytime, and it didn't move till i got to 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, and it slowly increased with every one of those.

FYI, i've also been in a fairly major accident at some point, and everything else has worked since then, albeit the recycle light doesn't work, and one of my seat heater lights doesn't work either.

so your cold air doesnt work?

!Tigger 08-21-2009 08:45 AM

and where did you get hit? from the front?

I got in at the front driver's side, and it cascaded pretty far back, luckily, it only damaged near the intake, and not the block itself (or it'd be a write off)

cold air works... but warm-ish air is supposed to come out at 25 (middle) as well.
