Rapid repair tells your to put it on a towel? are they stupid?

I'm still torn between the fat and slim. it'll probably be a month before I get one anyways, but thus far the slim is looking good.

SkinnyPupp 08-25-2009 08:16 PM

If you wait a month, you probably won't have a choice

underscore 08-25-2009 08:23 PM

True enough. Slim it'll be then. I had kinda hoped to put Linux on it but ah well.

You're not missing out much. It only has 256mb ram and the video chip is locked, so you can only run 2D programs in linux. Another sad thing is that there is no flash plugin for the PS3 chip, so no youtube or Facebook apps/games.

A sub $200 Atom setup for linux will run circles around a PS3 for general web browsing and you will save money on your hydro bill.

skyxx 08-25-2009 10:32 PM

What are you talking about. I watch Youtube videos all the time. There is a flash plugin....

Um the PS3 runs Youtube on its own OS, and I've heard of people that play CS:S on their PS3 because it runs better than on their computer :haha: (might just be a rumour tho) That would also be $200 above the cost of a PS3, which I think would take a while to even out with the "savings" on my utility bill (if I even paid one, included utilities ftw).

no one really uses the PS Internet Browser anyways..doesnt have much cache.

Does anyone know how much RAM the Slim has compare dto the fat?
