It's legal to cut it; it's just illegal to display an improper/unoffical N sign if you have a class 7/8 license.

"What you say?" It's "all your base are belong to us."

Ezekiel 25:17. The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. No, it isn't. You're an idiot if you think it isn't illegal to drive around like that. You may not have been pulled over yet but don't come crying when you do. Just because you speed regularly and don't get pulled over, wait until you bump into the cop that cares about certain rules.

OP, ignore this guy. He clearly hasn't read the regulations along with his 7N license.

It is illegal to modify the sign or use an unofficial one.

The same goes for license plates.

The back of your restricted DL says " must clearly display official new driver sign". The official sign is not a black Z, it's a black L ( ok "Z") on a reflective green background. The blackZ does not reflect and you are likely to get a VT because the black Z blends into the paint and it not clearly visible.

who do kids these days think it's so uncool to run an N? I threw the pouch up on the inside of my rear window and there it sat for 2 years.

never really cared... never had any issues with people stealing it since it was on the inside. I was all good.

I can't do that because my rear is tinted and you can't see it even if you're close.

Yeah it's illegal to cut it. The moment your scissors touch the sign, SWAT will come into your house and disrespect your whole family...

Ok jokes aside, it's not like you're destroying or defacing currency. You can cut it. You just can not use it as it is NOT the official new driver sign with the green reflective background and etc.

True story but one time I was driving with an N on the back and no girls were talking to me. Then I cut my N so its all black, turned it sideways so it looks like a Z (cause Z's are cooler than N's) and after a few days I was getting more female attention than ever.

I've cut my "N" sign coz it doesn't fit on my car. My rear windows are tinted too so no point in putting it inside.

You can have a piece of cardboard with a big N written on it if you dont have that green N sign. And like what 124Y pointed out, it is not currency nor property of the crown so you can rip it up if you like.

^ no you can't, you're only allowed the real deal, or one printed from the site to use while you drive to get a real one. Yes you can rip it/cut it up, but it doesn't count as a legal N sign if it is modified.

No it is not "Alterning the N or L sign from its orginal form is illegal. As is using a hand drawn replica.

You can use the temp one found on the ICBC web site (printed in color) as a short term solution should you loose yours.

Have you not been reading this thread at all?

No. It is not legal to turn your N sideways.

If you do, SWAT will come into your house, disrespect your family and do you know why ilvtofu?

Because your turn your N sideways. It was YOU who turned your N sideways.
