Do Bodyshops usually give out courtesy cars for Private Jobs?
 

Thinking of sending the SC in for paint, but I require the car on a daily basis.

What I'm wondering is, would they give me a Courtesy Car for the length of time they have my car in the shop?
Yeah I could call, but it's easier this way. That way I have a general answer, then look for one that does.

Thinking about doing it over Winter since it will never touch the snow. And getting a courtesy car while the car is getting painted is cheaper than buying a winter car.

Would I need to do that through my insurance?
Does it go under Roadside?
Do I pay for a rental car myself?

It is usually a rental agreement.. most places these days contract out to car rental places.

Since the shop is footing the bill for your rental, your job has to be expensive enough to cover their costs (you just added rental for 3 months).. you have to pay for it one way or the other.

when i had work done privately, the bodyshop factored in the rental costs for a loaner into the estimate. they didn't have their own service loaners.

unless your job cost like 20,000 its not gonna take "winter" time to finish your job
so most likely they give out courtesy car until the car is completed or else they would charge you daily rental... and its already in the contract that you sign when u drop ur car off...

Depends on the shop. Generally if you take it to a chain or a larger shop they will have their own rental cars. When I went to Automind they had a beater shop corolla they lent me for the 3 days my car was being worked on. Only requirement is you bring it back with the same gas amount.

that place that RS censors if I type its name gives out free courtesy car coz they are just crappy rebuilds and usually if there's one available they don't care....pm me D.

If you dont want your car to touch snow, wouldnt it make sense to get it done now while the weather is nice?

It totally depends on the shop.

A dealership or large chain like craftsman, will have a certain amount of cars that they own, as loaner vehicles. There is usually no charge for these vehicles, because they are owned by the store. If you do not book them ahead of time, and there are none available when you go in, you might be able to get a rental vehicle IF the work being done is warranty, and covers a rental, or if the accident is someone else's fault and ICBC or insurance provides for a rental. If you are just having paint work done for your own sake, a rental will most likely NOT be paid for by the shop. Phone ahead and try to get a free loaner if they're available, otherwise you pay for a rental or find another shop.

best bet is to just ask if the shop is willing to provide u with one

I plan on bringing it to the shop via flatbed from my garage and straight back afterwards. Snow or no snow!

Auto Couture kits are expensive. Need to save my pennies for that first. Noms.
I'd go fake, but I'd rather it last through scrapes than cracking and flying into traffic.

Hmm. I guess I'll call my prefered shops and see what they say.
I'm repainting the entire car, so I'm hoping it takes more than 2 weeks. I want them to take their time and not rush it.
Plus I figure when it snows, they're gonna be held up with a bunch of ICBC jobs, and my car will be sitting there.

Any suggestions for shops?
I've been to bismark, and the job was done really well. Looked really expensive though. Luckily ICBC was footing the bill.
