Recieved my penalty premium invoice

two violation :
sep/18/08
mar/07/09 at 3 point per violation..

total of 6 point and i need to pay $300 penalty premium..

question is ...
1) is this going to effect my insurance rate ?
2) my points automatically disappear after the payment is made?

if only we can have our points removed once the payment is made, then no one would have to worry about breaking the violations.

Correct me if i'm wrong, it has been a while, but each yr on your b-day you get 3 points removed? not sure if this was true of if it's a myth. I guess i'm just lucky to not have any violations.

my main concern is the "insurance" part... : (

i was told penalty premium will be given and then my insurance will go up as well....... please tell me im wrong :(

i also received 6 points about 2 years ago and it didn't affect my insurance rate

i don't believe tickets affect it, only accidents

yes, you insurance will eventually go up. ICBC is phasing in that system. Something like 3 tix in 3 years is "OK" (but one excessive counts as 3) and any after that your insurance starts to go up in stages.

I will try to find the info on it and post it up.

they are also phasing out the pay by points system, it is going to be replaced by the new insurance system.

I belive it started January of this year (2009). So January 2012 is when people are going to have a nice surprise when they go to renew their insurance.

thanks falcon for finding further info on this...

i dont quite understand your 2nd post, if you are saying it started this year 2009... why do we get a nice surprise 3 yrs later,2012 ?

you said they are going to phase out the pay by point system.... i have 6 point and $300 fine on my invoice... doesnt that mean the system is still pay by point ? therefore...insurance wont go up on me ?

"Hello ICBC, I have a question". They have the answer you want.

For now, you will be ok just paying the $300.
