Chinese made car alarm

I'm in Hong kong right now and my buddy wants me to find him a cheap chinese made car alarm for his 01 corolla.

He doesn't need any fancy features just that it works and lasts doesn't need a fancy compustar like pager. He is looking to spent under $100 Canadian. Can anybody recommend a brand? I've look up a place to that sells these kind of things and will go look for it tomorrow. what is the best brand for the price?

I know reliability will not be the best, my buddy is mainly looking for the remote lock/unlock function anti theft will be bonus.

Flamesuit on please dun't tell me chinese made alarms will make the car explode ok?

He's probably going to need installation from a professional right?
a Basic Alarm system actually isn't very expensive, I sell units for as low as $99 plus installation on top. But if you get it professionally installed they come with lifetime warranty.

If you buy one from asia and bring it here to install theres still no warranty and if it F**** your car it really ain't worth it. Don't bother.

if the alarm is oversea and professionally install in vancouver will the installation itself have warranty?

Oh and by the way make sure you find something with english manuals. Then again I have installed Asian and Russian systems before, english will make the install much smoother.

Very doubtful.
If we install it and the brain craps out and you have to replace it, then we'll charge you to remove the old brain and re-install the new one. If there is a simple wiring error not associated with the alarm itself, then we may make exception to the rule. Its up to the shop's discretion.

I just don't see why you would want to risk it though. Pay less than $200 for an alarm installed locally with 100% warranty or pay $100 for a Chinese alarm and $100+ for somebody locally to install it but have no warranty....well, I am sure you see where I am going with this.

it's not like they don't all come from there anyway.

Unless you know someone in the business, I highly doubt alarm over in HK retail stores is any cheaper than ones in Canada.. you only save in taxes. Which is rather pointless because you don't get warranty. No professional shop here would touch it with a ten feet pole.

If you really want a cheap cheap alarm going to DX or something and get one of their $10 specials.

Too bad none of them fit in ISO mount kits or applications. They are generally 1/4" too tall, 1/4" too wide and the motorized ones need even more room to work. You get what you pay for!
