My Macbook Pro takes forever to boot Yesterday, I downloaded a 2Gb file off piratebay and then proceeded to open up Full Tilt Poker. When I logged into my account, all of a sudden my MacBook Pro went black. My initial thoughts were that someone was trying to intrude into my computer to steal my money from my account, so the only thing I could think of was to unplug the modem. Now, when I turn on the computer, the Apple Logo comes on, but it takes about 5 minutes for the log in screen to show up. Did my computer fuck up? Is there a way I can speed it up? I am currently using my MacBook Pro to type this thread, so it is working, but I just don't understand why it is slow. Maybe because I downloaded a 2Gb file? Please Help! TIA edit: Now i've come to realize that the 'four finger swipe' doesn't work anymore. I must have really fucked this thing up somehow. Any ideas? |
Four finger swipe? I'm thinking you need to ditch that file and do a virus scan/system restore (if Mac's have system restore? I would think they do) |
The 'four finger swipe' is a touchpad thing that allows you to see all the windows that you've opened. It's not a program. |
There have been a few Mac viruses going around on torrents the last several months, generally integrated into iLife 09, iWork 09, and Adobe CS4. |
Well I was able to figure it out, I basically used disk utility and somehow everything went back to normal. Must have been a power surge of some sort. I noticed that my iPod that was attached was also fucked up and I had to reset it, so that gave me a clue as to what happened. |
yeah that happened to me as well but then i started to hear weird noises so i opened it up and came to find that my left fan was busted |
i love my macbook pro, so i used my dell laptop as the downloading work horse :) |
