Federal Liberals promise non-confidence motion in October
Michael Ignatieff says Stephen Harper's 'time is up'
News1130 Staff SUDBURY, ONTARIO (NEWS1130) | Tuesday, September 1st, 2009 11:42 am

SUDBURY, ONTARIO (NEWS1130) - The federal Liberals say they will introduce a non-confidence motion in the House of Commons in early October, a move that is expect to force a fall election. Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff says Prime Minister Stephen Harper's "time is up'' and the Liberals will no longer support the minority Conservative government.

In a campaign-style speech to caucus members in Sudbury, Ontario, Ignatieff slammed Harper for presiding over the worst unemployment in two decades and plunging Canada back into a huge deficit. He also says the government has failed to protect the most vulnerable and defend health care.

Liberal foreign affairs critic Bob Rae says the Liberals will take the first opportunity they have--likely in early October--to bring down the minority Tories, after giving the Conservatives 10 months to "get their act together".

Ignatieff says a Liberal government has a "vision for rebuilding the Canadian economy,'' including expanding trade with huge emerging markets in China and India. And he promises a government that will bring Canadians together, rather than divide them. Rae says the party is ready for an election.

Every year until the Federal Liberals get at least a minority, they don't like being on the outside looking in. I guess if the Conservatives got a majority that would also put an end to election after election because then the Libs would truly have no power.

I'm sick of having an election every year. I just see everyone's tax money being wasted again. I love having a minority government though.

Is the Tories really doing such a bad job?

cool moe D 09-01-2009 03:36 PM

If we should have a reelection it should be for Gordon Campbell to gtfo

ilvtofu 09-01-2009 03:42 PM

I doubt the liberals would get their minority, This is just another waste of tax money simple as that

Could this stimulate people who don't want tax money wasted on elections to vote for conservatives for the majority? LOL

^^ i don't. it just wastes more money having election after election for the same old shit -- and putting people off of politics EVEN MORE.

let the conservatives have their majority. if they fuck it up in their 5 year term, then vote in the liberals. and then vice versa.

we've wasted a billion dollars in elections over the past few years. thank you very much liberals for that.

murd0c 09-01-2009 04:35 PM
