Paying off ticket?

Basically I got a ticket for driving without due car and attention for going around a corner "too fast" and "could've hit a jaywalker". I was originally going to dispute but I moved for school and I'm only back for a week before school starts again, then at Christmas, etc so I didn't want to waste the courts time and file a dispute I couldn't attend. Now since I'm gone my brother has my car insured (I can't remember if he transferred the ownership or just used this form I signed allowing him to put insurance on it in his name) and I'm wondering about two things:

a) how bad is it to not pay off the ticket right now? Since I'm a broke student and won't be insuring a car for 2 years it doesn't matter if they refuse to insure a car in my name til I pay it off as I can pay it off when I get another car after I'm done school, but can I get in crap with my credit rating or something if I don't pay it after X amount of time? I don't mind if ICBC is mad at me later on but I really don't want this to have any lasting effect after I've paid it off.

a) can they refuse to reinsure the car to my brother if it's still owned by me and I haven't paid the ticket off yet?

Use the Search botton... it already has been discussed.

hey sorry browser wasn't letting me search earlier, just confirming Soundy was right saying

"As far as paying it, you can let it sit and fester as long as you want. However, you won't be able to renew your insurance or driver's license until it's paid. So the only time limit on it is when one or the other expires."

in http://www.revscene.net/forums/payin...=paying+ticket ?

Yes, since the ticket is against your DL and not the vehicle it just prevents you personally from insuring any vehicle or renewing your license. Not sure if this would also prevent vehicle registration...

- scroll down to the bottom of the main "police forum" page
- DISPLAY OPTIONS
- "from the"
- select how ever far you want to go back.

... and now we know. LOL. :haha:

^ no no it wouldn't let me hit the "Go" button. FF is messed up on 7 for me.

Ok netfreak that's good to know, I don't mind not being able to reg cars either, I'm mainly just concerned with my credit/any repercussions of leaving a ticket sit there for 2 years.

if you do not pay off your ticket you will get bad credit and plus a interest rate on top. So get off your ass and pay the fine so our city will look nicer.
