Networking problem

Trying to re-network my house to accomodate the roomie and his wireless goodies.

In office (a) I have a shaw modem plugged into a d'link router. From port (1) it goes to my computer and port (2) goes to a secondary room across the house (office b) At office (b) the incoming ethernet cable from room (a) goes into another D'link wireless router but anything plugged into his router dosnt work. If I unplug router (1) and plug his bedroom room into the router, than his router works.

haha ok I'm losing myself with the a'b's and 1 and 2's

What I want to do. modem into my router. My router into his. We can both split off in iether direction. Can this be done???

if you can set your roomate's router to be switch-only (turn DHCP off) then it should work. This way only your main router is assigning IP addresses to whatever is plugged into your router and his router(switch).

pretty much turn off NAT and dhcp to set the router to become a switch
