Monitor probelms

weird thing happening when i start my computer my monitor wont show all the start up screens its just black but the light is on showing power.

I turn the monitor off and on it stays on for a few seconds then screen is blank but light shows power.

I turn it off and on last a few seconds then off i repeat this two or three times then it stays on for countless hours and never goes off.

I let the computer stay on over night and it did it in the morning and same issue. but after three off and on.s its fine.

I notice when i am on TMZ website it flashes black once and awhile.

any suggestions would be great

The backlight is probably on it's way out. When the power light stays on, and the screen is blank, there is probably still stuff being displayed, but you see nothing because the backlight is off. If you shined a flashlight onto the screen, you'd probably see graphics.

I will try that.
Its weird also how the computer doesnt give that start up beep when powered up.
Funny how once you finally have the screen stay on it doesnt go off. Seems only at start up

sounds like a bad capacitor on the high voltage board for the backlight

you should be able to repair it, take it apart and look for the board that will usually have a "WARNING HIGH VOLTAGE" sticker on it, and look at it for any blown or leaking caps.

Can someone tell me what the inside measurement is on the Acer H233H 23" monitor? I have the specs for outside the frame I would like the height and length of the screen please?

GodZilla 09-13-2009 08:07 AM

Ok update

I took back the monitor and they refunded the full amount on debit.
So I picked up the new Acer H233H 23" wide screen for $189. $40 cheaper then last week and ends today.

So I unpack and plug it in and .......see below :(

broken pixel?

GodZilla 09-13-2009 08:43 AM

yes in the bottom corner. soon as i plugged it in i saw it right away .
It takes forever to untwist and peel all the crap off to set it up. Now back to Costco tomorrow, oh well.

its a common problem with viewsonic monitors too, the issue is swollen/broken capacitors inside the monitor.

my vx922 started having this problem immediately after the 3 yr warranty expired  talk about getting owned
