Help with an oil change, pay you $40 for your time

Hey guys

i'll probably get flamed and called a noob but that's exactly what I am. $40 for someone to come to my place or if you live close-by i can come by your place. I reside by PNE.

Reading previous threads, it looks like oil change at bmw is anywhere between $150-300 and even mr. lube is in the $150-200 range, so in the interest of learning and saving some money in the future, if someone is willing to come by my place and teach me how to do an oil change on this baby, I'll pay you for your time and forever be greatly appreciated.

Car is 2001 bmw 325i

- i'm not concerned about warranty and resale, thus why i'm wanting to perform my own oil changes.

- i have my own 3 ton car jack, but i don't have an oil pan nor socket wrench. Hopefully you can bring that.

Last but not least, what oil filter and oil do you guys recommend? my driving style is laid back, lol.

Send me a PM, cheers

Get either Mann / Mahle filters.. or the BMW ones (not that expensive).

If you have one of these: http://www.princessauto.com/shop-gar...luid-evacuator

You don't need to jack up the car at all.

You just need a 36mm socket to remove the plastic oil filter cap.

0. Document the mileage etc.
1. Remove the dip stick, oil cap and oil filter cap.
2. Remove the filter and clean the interior.
3. Use the fluid evacuator and pump out the oil (should be about 6-7L).
4. Coat the new filter with new oil and half refill the filter container.
5. Put in new oil.
6. Replace caps etc.

Done

Go to BCBimmers.com there are plenty of people there to help. Talk to the owners of Euroshop / Sons of Lars etc.. they will probably give you a discount on parts and oil.

I wouldn't think an individual would risk damaging your BMW and get sued for $40. Good luck.

i'm sure if you provide your own oil and filter, a place like Mr. lube could do it for you for less then $40 and they are "professionals"
