A little too late though, because she had a post game interview and it should have apologized then.

That is not an apology, not to the fans or the officials. She just cant believe she lost to someone who took a long break and came back to tennis (Clijsters) and kicked her ass. What a sore loser.

Maybe in team sports its different like you mentioned volleyball and hockey and what not, but tennis has a strict set of rules of officiating.

The volleyball example is a great one, it has nothing to do with it being a team sport, its about letting the players decide the game, not a nit-picky infraction that would have no affect on the gameplay.

I wonder why at that level foot faults are still left to judges, aren't the lines now called by computer?

Only whether the ball is in or out. The technology uses several points of reference to simulate the trajectory of the ball and uses the best guess to determine where it landed.

It would be easy to setup a laser system to avoid possible errors on foot fault calls.

Rated B 09-14-2009 06:15 PM

I agree.

Rules are rules, and they should be enforced anytime it is violated.

i think serena should marry kanye lol

both are cursed as oF YESTERDAY =)

That's the first time I've seen a foot fault called in a critical moment in a match and I've been watching tennis for a very long time. Serena was already down 15-30, then the foot fault was called giving Clijsters double match point. I think it would have been more interesting to have just let them play, although I'm pretty sure the Clijsters would have won anyway.

To the point about professionalism, I say every sport needs a jerk/asshole. Remember the days of tennis with John Mcenroe? This guy had some awesome outbursts!!

Football's got T.O, basketball's got Ron Artest, boxing had Tyson. We love to hate these people, and hence why professional sports is big money.

T.O.'s the man...don't hate

Ilagon 09-14-2009 08:56 PM

I ain't hating. I love T.O!! My favorite quote from him:

I'm not sure about that... because how would it determine whether you stepped on the line before or after you struck the ball?

Rated B 09-15-2009 07:14 AM

I'm just throwing out an idea, I am sure someone with a lot of time could figure out a system with a laser.
