NFS:Shift vs. GRiD?

Seems like both are fairly similar as a arcadey-but-still-kinda-realistic racing game with great in-cockpit views.

Anybody familiar with GRiD and just got NFS:Shift? How do they compare? I find GRiD is a good balance between arcade and sim, is NFS:Shift more arcadey or simulation?

GRiD's got great variety in cars and races (open wheel, muscle, demolition, touge, drift), how does NFS compare?

Good to hear... I always hated NFS for their super arcadey physics.

both of them are pretty much the same now since nfs is becoming more track racing rather than street racing

Dirt 2 is a silly game, it could be better if you have a g25

Grid looks great, but physic is fucked up, a little bit of gas will get your car out of control

so far NFS is great, even with a controller. More realistic, I like.

Wow....I love Grid. I've hated the last NFS's. Haven't tried shift yet though. I figured it was another shitty game. Guess not. Sweeeet gotta try it.

shift sucks!

on "Pro" mode driving a lamborghini murcielago when I turned a corner and the car is slightly sideways, I do not have to counter steer the car will automatically do it for you, this is with stability control off. On experienced mode (one lower then pro) the car can almost run itself.

shift is still not a true simulation like its said to be.

it terms of arcade, yah it's pretty good sort of like Grid, but Grid just looked better.

More things about shift, when in "drift" challenges, it's similar to PGR4. Were in any car that is capable of drifting, all you need is a heavy right foot. It'll slide out and throttle is enough to keep the car drifting. There's no need to steer.

Overall it fits just in PGR4 and Grid. Does not go with Grand Turismo nor Forza

sidenote: it does support clutch on G25 but it's not required to shift unlike Grand Turismo 5. Funny thing tho, when driving straight the G25 steering wheel sometimes like to tug from side to side causing you to spin out, so hold the steering wheel tight, stupid computer will try to over correct a problem it causes.

Ugh that drift auto-correction sounds like it would bother the shit out of me. I am still enjoying GRiD immensely.

I playtested Shift a few months ago, then tried it out now on PC. its a lot better than old nFS but compared to GRID I'd prefer GRID over NFS. The collision physics in NFS are wonky and the handling is suspiciously arcadey even at pro mode levels.

All NFS Shift brings new to the table is satiating all the kids who love guitar hero and seeing points fly up all over the place for any action they do with ... "sweet" point multipliers and EPIC badges.

It's good for a quick diversion, and the car sounds are nice, but I wouldn't pay full price for it.

heads up for those of you thinking about buying it on PC:

If you have an ATI video card, it runs like poo. I get 9-15fps on my Q6600 @3GHz & 4870x2
The latest patch didn't even fix it, so I'm hoping ATI will come out with a fix soon. The game is virtually unplayable.

I just disabled crossfire and I get more stable frames, so it appears to be a problem with crossfire.

I still think there is a serious performance issue with this game
I get over 100fps in most my games, yet only 20-40fps in NFS

^ can't compare as they really are two totally different games. One is sim, one is arcade.
