Futureshop "installed" are they trustworthy in installing the compustar and audio decks? i'm just curious and may think about getting my car done by them. opinions or even stories are great thanks |
Yes. |
no. way back in the day when i had something installed ( think 2002 ? ) they had a high school kid on some career program doing installs on customer's cars. He couldn't be more than 14 yrs old. find Orgasm Donor and call it a day. |
Some yes and some no.. Have a chat with the installer directly and I'm sure you can decide what's best. |
For their alarms, make sure that they go the extra mile. IE: No butt connectors, T-taps or short cuts. Make sure they hide the siren, brain, fusing and wiring and also see that they know your vehicle well and are able to use their many years of experience to do a perfect job. Also, you get what you pay for. If you go with a reputable shop that has years of experience and are friendly and provide great service then I don't see how you could use the alternative. |
just msg mike aka "orgasm_donor" |
for a deck install why not but for a alarm, depends on the place some are really good some are noobs. example come see my car it was done at FS..... it's horrible I just have to find a chance to pay up and get it professionally done again. The compustar pro is a MESS! the alarm is double sided taped on! FML! |
^^Hmmm...Futureshop does PRO's now? Thats a little sad. |
actually long story short I got the pro from a friend, which then worked at fs so he installed it there for dirt cheap your really get what you pay for, I paid less then 500 for a pro w/ starter installed I thought I got the deal of a century. Now I got quoted to be over 300 to fix all the wiring |
Pay the extra money to get it done right (orgasm donor) and save yourself the extra head ache/cash. |
my friend had his deck installed by futureshop. didnt have a problem. |
Really comes down to what car. I'd say most installers there are ok. You have to watch out for those super noobs with no experience. Thing with most independant shops is they tend to have more experienced installers and better service. So really depends what car you have. If I had newer car with complicated electronics or needed custom work I definately would NOT go to big box stores. If I needed a deck installed into a 2004 Honda Civic I wouldn't have issues bringing to them. But unless you're getting a hookup or free install, I would rather go to one of the smaller shops. |
