'89 Accord, power steering sensor question

My GF's accord has a sensor in the pressure hose line. The replacement hose I have been given for it has no place for this sensor. The proper replacement cost an extra $100. She doesn't intend to keep this car long enough to bother with the proper part if not nessecary. Can it run well enough without the sensor in place? I'm not sure if it adjusts idle to comensate for steering, or if it adjusts power steering to relative to speed.

i had an 89 accord exi. It had p/s with that sensor. When i replaced the high pressure hose with a cheaper one from Lordco, i went without that sensor, for that same reason as you. It bumps up the idle while turning the wheel cause the pump puts an extra load on the engine and the idle may dip a little.
Bottom line is, it will be ok. You probably won't even notice the idle dip unless you really look for it
