how to stop blocked calls?

i have been getting calls from someone who is "blocked" 2-3 times a day at all hours for the last 2 weeks, when i pick up there is no one there. Apparently rogers wireless doesnt offer an anonymous call blocker. Does anyone have any solutions for this? i have an iphone is there an app than can help me out?

I did do some research and found this service which would work solve my problem but unfortunately it is not yet available in canada http://www.trapcall.com/ , http://www.wired.com/threatlevel/2009/02/trapcall/.

mods i know this should prolly be in the mobile phone chat, but im sure a lot of people have dealt with this problem at some point or another so i feel it is a subject of general interest.

Isn't there an anonymous call block that you can have put on your line? If no caller ID shows, the caller is forced to enter a phone number before it rings on your side. It'll cost you $2/month though

EDIT: Apparently I can't read...you said Rogers. :)

I tried to do this on Fido a while ago.. apparently.. theres no way to stop it.

#57 right after the call.

it will automatically collect the number and send it to RCMP. then you can contact them regarding why you did it, and they can investigate.

It works.

Did that before because some asshole kept calling us around 2-3am. I called the non-emergency line and they told me to do that.

I kept a record of when the calls were made and what was said. Called them back after 2-3 of these calls and they gave me a file #. Within a few days the officer in charge of my case called me and said they found out who it was and that they've told the person to stop and have them on file.

They asked me if I wanted to press charges but I just told them that as long as the calls stop then it's all good.

I had this problem before *not anymore* but so surprised the phone companys for example fido and rogers can not do anything to stop it... its your fricken system.

B-DiZzLe 09-28-2009 10:24 AM

iblacklist FTW

syee 09-28-2009 10:30 AM

btw, it's *57, not #57

*57 Customer Originated Trace - Provides the recipient of an obscene, harassing, or threatening call the ability to request an auto-trace of the last call received

They can do something but won't do anything about it unless there is a police report and they contact them for it.
