Replacement drop in air filter

I've recently changed my stock air filter for a factory replacement filter made by Beck Arnley. After the change, I've noticed that the sound is quite loud like a open cone filter would be.

Does anyone know the reason for this? Could it be due to the new filter being cotton instead of paper? I've tried many drop in filters before but never were they this loud. All input would be appreciated - the car is a 2009 Lancer. Thanks.

did you clamp down the intake cover that sandwiches the filter on either side?

maybe you think you are hearing something more. Or it could be that there is less restriction, or you left something out

I'm thinking that the new filter is less restrictive, allowing more air in, making it sound angrier?

If all you did was replace the air filter and secured it properly, I would just ignore it.

You should probably double check your work just in case. And see if the filter is not broken or anything.

Well, thanks anyways for all the replies. Everything is secure, and there is no damage to the filter. I guess I will have to live with it and see if the next replacement is quiet.
