roastpuff 09-30-2009 04:43 PM

Damn, I liked the new Aura. And the Astra. And the Sky.

ilvtofu 09-30-2009 04:48 PM

I like the exterior of all the current saturn models, well maybe not the big suv

StylinRed 09-30-2009 05:40 PM

maxx 09-30-2009 05:48 PM

friend just got a new astra

...meh

SpartanAir 10-01-2009 05:18 AM

Opel still makes the Astra in Europe...Thank the lord Saturn shut down, they are so ugly. The Sky is just a Solstice with a different body.
I do have to say I liked the front ends on the early model Vues, looked kinda cool. But they had some real annoying ads in their time.
Like when those old ladies want to watch the young guy bend over to look in his back seat of his lame coupe, but then he BUSTS OUT the '3rd door' and doesn't have to bend over and they get all disappointed...

i thought that the sky and solstice was based on the opel speedster?

still... i was hoping saturn would survive as a division that would carry all of GM's european models. oh well :(

ilvtofu 10-01-2009 06:59 AM

Except the opel speedster is mid engined...

That's not really a bad thing since it looks better, they should get rid of the solstice instead ;) or both! Just look at that trunk space,

maybe they should've just sold the opel speedster in a slightly more luxurious version here instead since the trunk space of the solstice/sky convertibles is absolutely inaccessible due to the fuel tank practicality isn't good either way

And the speedster would've been competitive on the track, whereas even the GXP solstice doesn't fair that well with the competition considering it has 260hp

haha damn, just this last month when i was in the states i've been seeing that saturn commercial with the black guy in green shirt saying how saturn makes cars americans wanna buy at least 10 times a day. Well i guess they dont =/

Mugen EvOlutioN 10-01-2009 07:05 AM

when solstice / sky first came out about 3 years ago people were buying it

now i hardly see them on the street

the easiest way is to just bring re-brand them as opel. Opel gives a nice ring but saturn just seem...........i dunno, lame. Seriously, using a planet name as a brand is kinda lame, same goes with mercury. I guess I watched too much sailormoon.

The Sky is the North American version of the Opel GT. Both are based on the Kappa platform, the Solstice was the first car to use this platform.

The Opel Speedster uses the Lotus Elise chassis but with a 2.0L turbo motor. There was talk way back about GM bringing over the Speedster as the new Pontiac Fiero. Shame they didnt, I'd totally rock one. Handled like, faster than and thousands less than the Elise.

+1 new fiero would've been awesome, probably better built and more usable than the elise

!Aznboi128 10-02-2009 09:21 AM

the astra's pretty nice.....

also the older Vue redline it had a 3.5 v6 from Honda J35's awesome

StewartJD 10-03-2009 03:55 PM

My mom owns an Aura, looks pretty good imo, and no major problems in 2 years of ownership. Shame Saturn will be gone.

thumper 10-03-2009 04:59 PM

a few days ago the local saturn dealerships were agressively advertising their stock with big 1/2 page ads in the vancouver sun... but now they are gone. i wonder what is going on (eg. all saturn dealerships shut down?)...
