Escort 9500ix Wow, it is amazing. I thought the 9500i was good. The ix takes it one level higher. I sold my 9500i on CL and spent about $125.00 plus tax more to get the ix. Money well spent. Even though the 9500i I had was over three years old, I got top dollar for it. Not too many people are selling used ones and lots are looking around to buy. The 9500ix has the capability to learn false signals - automatically stores it into its memory after it sees the same false signal two or three times. Red light cameras and speed cameras show up with direction arrows along with how far away they are. The GPS on this puppy is pretty accurate. Finally, blue LED's - when I got the 9500i when they first came out, it didn't come with blue LED's. Later on, it was a 50 dollar difference in price. Now the new ix only comes in blue. Yay! It seems like the 9500ix finds GPS signals faster than the previous model and startup is just a single beep now instead of that annoying series of noises. Pretty much plug and play right out of the box. Way more memory than the old version, too. It comes with 90 days of free camera location updates. Anyway, I've had the 9500ix for about two weeks now and it is very impressive. Like my previous unit, I leave the 9500ix on "auto" setting and the GPS automatically adjusts the sensitivity of the unit - higher speeds = higher sensitivity, lower speeds - lower sensitivity. No more worrying about city/highway settings. Just tonight, my butt was saved once again when I drove by Walnut Grove - cop on side street with radar. I didn't see him on my way into Walnut Grove, but saw him on the way out on 88th. I should have gone back to see what the radar detector would have done. I don't think it would see it as a false alarm and mark it, because unlike false alarms caused by automatic doors and such, cop radar fequencies change ever so slightly each time they are used. If any of you are in the market for radar detectors, check out the new Escort 9500ix. http://www.escortradar.com/passport9500ix-details.php BTW, I got mine locally. It ended up costing me a tad more (less than $30.00), but it saved me from shipping and brokerage fee hassles. Plus, I had it the day after I sold the old one. No waiting to have it shipped. |
dams im tempted to upgrade my x50 blue to a v1 . but this has always interested me. we need some local people to test them against our local PD's guns! |
Nice write-up 89blkcivic! I think I will be picking one of these up. I sold my 9500i last year but never replaced it. This new one looks dope! |
9500ix are awsome, I sold quite a few in my days... |
I never knew how many freaking red light cameras there were in the lower mainland until I got the 9500ix. Not all are active, but shit loads out there. |
