Casual Seafood Restaurants?

Hi guys,

I am looking for a seafood restaurant to take my friend to for her birhtday dinner. I'm looking for something along he lines of The Boiling Crab in California or the Crab Pot in Seattle.

If there's nothing along those lines in Vancouver, I was thinking either Cannery or Coast Restaurant. If so, which one is better?

I'm not looking for anything pretentious like C. She's a big eater!

Any feedback apprpeciated thanks!

cannery would be ideal

go there before they officially close down early next year

Coast is fantastic, but if this dinner encompasses many people the parking will be a hassle

Definitely Cannery. It's totally casual, and the food is awesome.

Also there is a seafood joint right by the ferry terminal that I went to once while waiting for the ferry. It was quite good, especially the huge, fresh shrimp cocktail. I can't remember the name though.

Why is the Cannery closing down?

It has to do with the Olympics. I believe the details are on their website.

Thanks for the feedback. Will consider all the opinions. I've been to cannery a couple times and personally love it. I was just unsure about Coast cause I've never been there.

So I take it there are no casual seafood restaurants that just dump a bucket of seafood on your table here :(

I've seen pictures of "Boiling Crab" in Cali and fuck...I wish we had that here :(

So I'm assuming they will be back in business when the olympics is over?

Well i guess we won't know until next year, but honestly how hard is it for a successful restaurant to find a different location?

as a business perspective, if the place is making good coin, they can just ditch the water view and find a nice location west end, or downtown

Death2Theft 10-07-2009 06:33 PM

Big eater eh? Turns me on got some pix?
